Here are some questions that I ask myself to see if DJ would stay or go to the NBA next y ear.
Did DJ have an amazing year? Yes, 31-7 is a great record. Big 12 co-champs and NCAA round of 8. Last year, Texas got knocked out in the second round.
Is DJ the best point guard in the NCAA, this year? Yes, but not because of his scoring ability or his defense ability. Rather, his ability to think on the floor and disect an opponent's offense or defense. He is a great player, but DJ is a superb thinker on the basketball floor.
Can DJ improve his game with another year in college? Yes. DJ, and the Longhorns could not overcome the size and depth of Memphis this year. I think it would do DJ alot of good to stay in another year and work on strategies for shooting over big men. With experience comes consistency. Consistency is something that the young Texas team did not have in abundance.
Honestly, I think DJ could leave. I dont know if he will. But you are asking a lifelong Longhorn fan to say that yet again, another premiere player is leaving early. This is not an easy thing to swallow. Can you imagine if the likes of TJ Ford, LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Durant, DJ Augustin and Damion James made one team? WOW!!
I hope he stays, I hope Damion James stays too. I am looking forward to M. Hill getting healthy and am also looking forward to seeing Balbay's skills. But that is next year.
