Alright Mikey...I'm back for more. How's that hilarious bracket of yours looking now?
3 Pac 10 teams in the 16, including my Cougars, and 3 Big East teams in the 16. The only difference is all of the "good" Big East teams outside of Louisville are gone while the Pac has 2 real contenders.
Assuming every team has an average game, WVU will lose, Villanova will get slaughtered, and Louisville will lose a tight game. So, let me recap...assuming all teams have an average game, the Big East will get 0 teams to the elite eight.
On the other hand, UCLA is almost a lock to make the Final 4...if they don't make it against the competition left in their bracket, it would be one of the biggest upsets of the tourney. Stanford matches up very well against Texas, so that game should be tight, but Texas should win, although nobody should be surprised if Brook Lopez carries Stanford past them. Washington State should get killed by UNC. However, if they continue to play the defense they have in the last 3 halves and their offense has their first good game of the tourney, they have a very outside chance. Consider that WSU didn't play particularily well on offense against ND, and still killed a very good offensive (UNC-like) team. My wife made the ultimate homer pick and put them past UNC on her bracket...here's hoping for a miracle.
So, the Pac 10 has a better winning % than the Big East in the tourney, has a much much better chance of getting 2 teams to the elite 8 (and is almost guaranteed 1 final four), and here's the kicker...the Pac is 2-1 head-to-head with against the Big East with the only loss coming to a WVU team that's playing beyond their abilities.
So, if the Pac 10 is a bunch of crap, where does that leave the Big East now?
