Booed? The BEST pitcher in all of BB? Not Peavy or Beckett? And all we have is Hamels? We are so pitching poor. Eskin thinks Peavy and Webb are the best in the NL, but that's his opinion.

Booing is a Philly thing? Just ask that DRUNK Santa at a FOOTBALL game!!! We know for certain that New Yorkers would give Santa a pass if he was DRUNK in front of kids!!

FROM SHEA:

They are angriest of fans here these days at Shea Stadium. They had their hearts ripped out last year by The Collapse.

More from the New York Post

So when Johan Santana gave up three long home runs yesterday in his Shea debut as a Met in a 5-3 loss to the Beltin' Brewers, he was hit with a chorus of boos by the crowd of 54,701 before he jogged off the field.

Welcome to New York, Johan.

I'm sure ALL Mets' fans will not like this thread: The Yankees let you have Santana.

All The Phillies have is Hamels, and he's not even the best in the NL EAST.

And I thought the Mets got Santana from the Twins. Who knew?

Santana has pitched decent in 2 of 3 starts. Hamels will inevitably hit a rough patch too. Its been 3 starts, calm down. Hamels has looked real good. He should do well for Philly for awhile.

P.S. Where are all you hypocrites (and there were plenty of Philly fans who did this) who were bashing Hamels as "not that good" and "always injured" and as a "Big mouth" when he wanted more money than he got?

The funny thing is, the biggest acquistion that the Mets fans have been roosting about for so long and flashing it in front of Phillies fans, no...all other baseball teams fans faces for how many weeks now since he was signed...and they boo him on the first day. Seriously, I know we Philly's boo...but at least to reserve them for the right time. Mets fans I swear boo like anytime something is done that they don't like. Perfect example, in Philly...the opposing team's pitcher tries to keep the runner close on first, a couple of throws...no problem. 3, that's pushing...4 here comes the boos. Any time an opposing pitcher in Shea throws to keep the runner close, ON THE FIRST THROW, they boo. "What, they're using strategy against the Mets? BOO THEM!" "What? They're actually trying to win the game against the Mets? BOO THEM!!" "What, they're pitcher needs to be relieved and it's slowing down when we get to see the next hitter? BOO THEM!!!" (ok, that last one was an exaggeration, but you get the point.) I never want to hear anything from another Mets fan about Philly fans booing, EVER. Whenever they do, I will point them to this post.

P.S. Where are all you hypocrites (and there were plenty of Philly fans who did this) who were bashing Hamels as "not that good" and "always injured" and as a "Big mouth" when he wanted more money than he got?

Name one that called him "not that good" when Phillies fans knew a few years ago the pitcher the organization had was in the minors still. Always injured...yeh, that's why he won 15 games in his first full year as a starter. Just give up on that while you can.

Big mouth? Hmmm...not big mouth, just an impatient guy. Nothing really wrong with that, you want to cash in when you play sports. Unfortunately, Cole needs to learn the system baseball has set up...3 years Cole, 3 years. This offseason, you'll be rewarded, guaranteed. When you're a star on this team, contrary to popular belief, you get your due. Rollins got it. Utley got it. Howard got part of it, and will get it. So will you.

So really now...these hypocrites....do me a favor.

Name one.

And if you can't do that...

Link a post.

If your talking about me, I was being sarcastic about Cole Hamels not being good. So far this season hes been just about lights out. If he had some run support the first game of the season he would be 3-0. Friday nights game going up against Johan Santana will be a good test for him thought.

P.S. I did agree with Hollywood Hamels. Whats wrong with giving the kid a little extra money?

MEAT,

The Yankees only had Hughes on the table for 2 days, and w/ him in the offer Los Mets don't get Johan. THE YANKESS let Omar have Santana.

Tal,

I haven't posted on this board in a while & I usually agree with you but I think you're wrong on this one. If the Yanks decided to pull out of the bidding for Santana, then that's their business. It's got nothing to do with them letting the Mets have him. Brian Cashman decided that the future of Hughes & Kennedy is greater than the present with Santana. He made a choice and decided to stick with the kids, the Mets made a choice and went after him. That's all it is.
