Don't be getting all upset about losing Gavin Floyd after one almost no-hitter. That game was the longest he's ever pitched in a major league game, he'd never gone more than 7 innings before, and even in this almost no-hitter, he went 7.1. For some reason, he likes pitching vs. Detroit (maybe it's like Eaton vs. the Mets).
Exactly a week earlier, Floyd pitched six solid innings to win at Detroit in his first outing of the season. He is now 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA in four starts against Detroit since last September. He is 0-3 with a 4.50 ERA in three starts against other teams in that span.
Like Tal said, he had many chances to "make it" as a Phil, and never really showed much promise, other than maybe ok outings here and there.. and his bad ones were much worse and far outweighed his good ones. Even with his good starts the last 2 games, he's still just 10-10 with a 6.00 ERA in his career. I don't think he's gonna all of a sudden become the next Nolan Ryan or something. Wait to see what he can do against someone not named the Tigers.
