I have a feeling Gavin Floyd is going to be a very good pitcher, and I am mad that the Phillies traded away a kid with a bright future for Freddy Garcia who's best years are behind him and he won about five games with the phillies.

Add Michael Bourne to that list too.  Just think if they wouldve held onto these players..they mightve had a chance at Santana.

Forgot about Bourn the kid can fly and has promise, i am mad they let him slip away, they could of groomed him a bit more and put him in right next year full time, that would be a fast lineup with Rollins, Victiorino, and Bourn.

22,

Floyd had many shots to make it, like Pelfrey; and we got Garcia, which looked good at the time.  Bourne for Lidge hasn't played out yet; and Floyd, like Kazmir and Bannister, are in the AL.  That NL team got Zambrano the retired & Burgos the injured for 2 years--in other words, finished!

Haha what about trading Polanco for a reliever who burns his workers, and Polanco comes back the next year and hits 340, he could have been our first baseman.

Don't be getting all upset about losing Gavin Floyd after one almost no-hitter. That game was the longest he's ever pitched in a major league game, he'd never gone more than 7 innings before, and even in this almost no-hitter, he went 7.1. For some reason, he likes pitching vs. Detroit (maybe it's like Eaton vs. the Mets).

Exactly a week earlier, Floyd pitched six solid innings to win at Detroit in his first outing of the season. He is now 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA in four starts against Detroit since last September. He is 0-3 with a 4.50 ERA in three starts against other teams in that span.

Like Tal said, he had many chances to "make it" as a Phil, and never really showed much promise, other than maybe ok outings here and there.. and his bad ones were much worse and far outweighed his good ones. Even with his good starts the last 2 games, he's still just 10-10 with a 6.00 ERA in his career. I don't think he's gonna all of a sudden become the next Nolan Ryan or something. Wait to see what he can do against someone not named the Tigers.

I understand that he had chances but i hate when teams trade away players with promise, at the time it was a good move but it didn't work out.

don't sweat it bmarte...remember the garcia trade is what inspired the reigning NL MVP to proclaim the "Phillies are the team to beat" in the NL east...while Garcia was hardly the reason it did show at the time a commitment from up stairs---which, well moses can tell you the rest of the story

great eaton line RC

while I agree the Polanco deal will hurt (me personally) for a long time to come...by the way do we retain urbina's rights if he ever gets let out?

I am not too concerned w/ bourne...plus he was totally a luxury on this team w/ all the speed we have

OK my vote for worst phillies trade ever was Manny Trillo for Ivan Dejesus (may have included others)...please correct or ammend accordingly...I don't know why they did it or why I hated Dejesus so much...I just remember he being so short and not being a good fielder or hitter...I could never accept that guy...that might have been the first move to break up the 1980 team...that may be it
