Just hearsay... I didn't hear the program, but there was talk that the Lions were talking trade with the 49ers about the Lions #15 1st rounder for the 49ers #29 1st round and #39 2nd round picks. That would be nice... First Round 1 pick, Second Round 2 picks and Third Round 2 picks.
Has anyone heard of this?
I'm not looking to get anyone hopes up, just wondering if there's any truth to it.

I haven't heard anything about it, but I'm all for it if we can gain more picks.

Nobody will ever make a trade like that until draft day. The reason is that they would be targeting a player or two in order to give up that pick. Unless that player is still on the board they can't make the trade.
If it is being considered and their player is available at our spot, I'm all for trading down.

I'm betting Mike Martz would make that deal in a second if Malcom Kelly is on the board at 15.

I listen to 97.1 a lot but haven't heard that yet. I'm still surprised McDonald isn't in SF yet. If this happened I would think it's because the Lions want to take Stewart and feel he'll fall that far but who knows.

Good point Swarm, you've got me thinking now...
take that deal, use 2 2nd rounders to trade back up in the first, get Quentin Groves and Stewart 1st round, Tony Hills(OT), and Shawn Crable 3rd round.
Just for the record, I think Groves will be a great DE, but is getting a bit overlooked because of the Long/Gholston/Harvey guys at the top of the draft. I never get a chance to mention him because we're too high to draft him in the 1st, and too low to get him in the 2nd. But getting him AND Stewart would be a steal in itself.

My only concern is that Stewart will not recover fast enough and he will not have enough reps in training camp to grasp the zone blocking scheme.
Also, my thinking is that we would get a MLB like Conner or Rivers if he falls that late in first...
This could be wrong but it was my understanding that Groves was not a great pass rusher, decent but not elite. If this is true, it will do us no good as we already have the complete DE to complement the pass rusher in Dewayne White.

I am also very high on Groves. The knock on him is that he thinks he is better than he is (same said for Pat Sims DT also at Auburn so this could be a coaching thing) and his character is a bit in question. No question about his talent though.

If we were to make this trade (which wouldn't happen untill draft day, but is feasable because Martz needs a #1 wideout) I would be extreemly happy. Trading down into the later part of the first still leaves us with a lot of options. Personally I hope Stewart falls that far, I know he's injured, and might not have the system down by the time the season starts, but we can afford to bring him along slowly, and have a fresh set of (very powerfull) legs midway through the season. Prior to his surgery it was a debate between him and Mendenhall as to who was the second best back coming out this year (behind McFadden). Getting a guy who would have went in the top fifteen at 29 and picking up an early second rounder on top if it would be a great move. We could use the first of our two second rounders to get either Connors or Lofton at MLB, then use the second one and the two third rounders to get the best remaing players at DE, CB, and OL. If that were to happen we'd have filled our five weakest positions with five first day players. But, passing on Harvey or Rivers, if they are still there at 15 would be hard to do.

I feel the same way about Philip Wheeler at MLB and with all the talk about Connors/Mayo/Lofton.
