I don't get the hate for the Yankees either. If Philly still had the A's, I garauntee you I'd be going to see both clubs play and praying they both make the Series.
Not only are we not 1st, we've been praised!! This is unacceptable. Clearly we as Phillies fans are not doing our jobs. Nor the Braves for that matter.
Jerks! Morons! New Yorkers! Argh!!!! Boooooo Mets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stugots

It has to be the Yankees. The Mets were an insignificant blip on the schedule when the Braves had their run so it's not like their was a rivalry worth noting those years. The Phillies have been bad for so long that they are impossible to have hatred for except for the fact that they are from that S-Hole known as Philly. It proves how pathetic the NL East has been over the years when the biggest market team in the divisions most hated rival is in another league.

14,
you need to stop living in the past... Your team is no good now, stop trying to bring them back... Not only are they not #1 team in the NL but there not even the #1 team in the NL east. matter of fact hey aren;t even #2. Mets and Phillies are both better.

It's not living in the past, it's talking about the past. Do you realize what we're talking about? The relavence and importance of the Braves streak. Hence, I'm talking about the past. Genius.

For me its the Phillies. Philly fans are total garbage which is one of the reasons their city cant win a championship. They are always turning on their players. Hell, their horse (was it Barbaro) couldn't even win.
The Braves are a rivalry because they are always good. Cox and Mazilli really ran a tight ship for more than a decade. They still get overhyped though, ie this year.
The Yanks are just the cross-town rival. Each teams fans just want to say they are the real NY team. (Its the Brookly Dodgers)

That's great, look at what the Yankees have done.
The Yankees have been Major League Baseball's most successful franchise with 26 World Series championships and 39 American League Pennants. They are also the most successful franchise in professional sports history, passing the Montreal Canadiens' 24 titles in 1999.
You don't see eveyone brining that up trying to save face. Braves are no longer goo, get over it.

I agree with Philly fans being trash, but the Phillies are making progress. They are tougher for the Mets then the Braves are of late (last 2 years.)
i almost feel sorry for the Phillies, the fans there are terrible and the second they start doing basd the whole city turns on them.

I hate the Phillies the most. Why you ask. Well, i'm from North Jersey but live outside of Philadelphia for work. I get all the damn Phillies games and have to hear about them on the local channels. Second, a majority of my friends are Philadelphia fans so its got alot to do with bragging rights and ball busting.

Thats a little better. More hatred, please.
As for us being bad fans, we boo lack of effort. Absolutely. Guys that spill their blood and guts will never be booed in Philly. Look at Iverson's return the other week. Standing O. Tears streaking down people faces. We'll always love a winner on the inside. We just don't stand for the weak and people that expect to breeze by.

I voted Phillies, but I will get to that in a moment.
The Braves were great for years and the Mets or any other team for that matter in the NL East did not stand a chance. The Braves have always had a side of class other than Rocker. I mean didn't the Mets have some love for the Braves when Galarraga was diagnosed with cancer? Their fans are willing to talk baseball or talk players or whatnot, not the same thing you can say about Yankees fans or Phillies fans. The 2000 NLCS was a great series and both sides will tell you that.
The Phillies on the other hand came out of nowhere and started running their mouths and talking about how they are studs and how their lineup is awesome. Awesome? It might be, but can we at least have an intelligent conversation about it? The Phillies tend to hate whoever is good. The Braves when they were on top, the Marlins in 03. I remember them running their mouth at Beckett and Willis. And last year they ran their mouths at the Mets. It happens, I am not really talking about the players here, but their fans get me a little angry more than anything else.

I hate to say it being a die hard NY fan, but the Boston Celtics 8 straight NBA Championships and 10 in 11 years dwarfs the Braves 14 straight NL division titles.
And let's be real about one thing. The Braves won the NL West in 1991, 1992, and 1993. In 1994 they finished the season in second place to the Expos in the NL East. They won the NL East from 1995-2005. I don't know why 1994 isn't considered, but it might be because it was not a complete 162 game season. But in any case, they didn't end that year in first in their division.
That being said, 10 World Championships in 11 years is a much more impressive team feat than 14 division championships in 14 or 15 years. Not to take anything away from the Braves achievement itself, but it just ain't the most impressive thing a team ever did over a 14/15 year period even if the Celtics ended up dead last the other 3/4 years.
Just IMHO.

Yeh, who doesn't trash talk the winners, picking at everything they can find wrong to make a negative statement, everyone does it...especially you Mets fans. That's why I hate you guys, probably the lowest collective IQ in all of baseball (outside of DC). You guys booed Santana on opening day at Shea. That great pitcher you all boasted and harped about every day till opening day, and still on occasion do. At least he showed effort and Phillies fans would have recognized that, he just had a bad day. We might boo, but we boo for the right reasons. Mets fans just boo for whatever reason. Everyone hates the throw to first from the mound when it happens 3-4...5+ times, and Phillies fans will boo that. But anytime you're in Shea and the opposing pitcher does it once, they boo. "Omg, they're playing the game with some thought involved, boo them!" A pitcher does a single step off, boo him. A batter needs to reset once, boo him. A player makes a great play, boo him. At least in Philly, if the opposing team does something right like making a great catch, or doing any of the other things above without excess, they don't boo. Cause they actually know what's going on in baseball.
Mets fans....overall the worst. Unintelligent, hypocritical, classless, clueless, arrogant, and ignorant. So hate the Phillies for their fans all you want, don't worry, we hate you too. At least though we know some geniune reasons why.

Phillies fans dont know anything except where the cheapest booze in the stadium is located and what the bail bonds number is.
If you do well in Philly you get cussed at and the people have smiles on their faces, you do bad and little kids throw batteries at you. We know the story. But hey, if I was a fan of every garbage franchise that calls silly philly home I would hate the world and the Mets too. I am sure no one in Philly has ever boo'd Ryan Howard on a 0-4, 4 K day. Oh wait.......yes...yes I think you have. Go make a cheese steak and sit on it pal.
Mets fans....overall the worst. Unintelligent, hypocritical, classless, clueless, arrogant, and ignorant.
Ya? And Phillies | |
