It's going to be one great first round series one that I will not miss for sure. However I can not agree that the Spurs are done. Suns may have the head to head match up against the Suns but the post season is a differet story.

Shaq will have to play low post defense which he can no longer do. Steve Nash is going to have play nearly a perfect series agaisnt Tony Parker who plays he's best come playoff team. This is going to be a classic and I'm going with the Spurs in 6. Suns have not proven to me they can play defense to win a championship. Enjoy watching them but they will come up short once again.

i wish it were that easy to explain.

......

i like duncan, and parker and manu are good players but their game (offensively and defensively at times) consists of creating the illusion of contact to sell to the referee.  how many times have we seen manu start  a drive, then when the defender gets a little close, he flails his arms like they just got hacked?  he gets those 9 out of 10 times.  and b/c hes argentinian (where futbol is most popular), he gives us futbolistas a bad name by those who believe the sport is full of flopping fairies who immediately look for a foul whenever they fall down on a play.  manu is a bad apple, but i digress.  it seems like the spurs players are taught to flop whenever they feel contact, but the worst part is the refs buy it.  i was watching the spurs-c's game on st. p's day and the spurs were getting their fair share of beneficiary calls when a few particular plays stood out.  one was in the 3rd when the spurs were bringing up the ball and setting up the offense.  kurt thomas posts up near the left elbow and perk is guarding him closely; as he holds his ground to keep thomas where he is, he gives him a little love tap (but when perk is involved, a 'love tap' might be a full-fledged body shot) and thomas flops as if perk just cross-checked him.  whistle immediately blows and the look on perk's face said it all; kurt thomas!?!?  i thought you were a tough guy, a banger, not some 2-guard i flatten on screens!!  later in the game (4th), pierce goes into the lane, gets raked across the face by duncan and GETS TO THE LINE!!!  duncan gives the ref the 'are you kidding me, i barely touched him!' look, when CSN was nice enough to show the replay.  ill put it this way: you didnt need to zoom or move closer to the tv to see that foul.  when bowen picked off KG's inbound pass at the end of the game and gave the rock to horry, you can hear mike gorman say 'oh, no' as horry puts up the shot and after it missed, you see manu (who was within 10 feet of horry) standing next to the ref begging for a foul.  sorry che, no foul.  maybe we should give techs to players who flop to try and draw a foul (its working pretty well for futbolistas).  well, the c's came back cuz theyre a better team.

again, the spurs play good d, but i do not respect flopping.

Spurs have been in trouble for years now according to every other team in the NBA.  But if you notice, it is the Spurs that have beaten the in East the last 5 years.  The years the Spurs don't make it the East wins.  Detroit over LA, Miami over Dallas.  Derek Fisher and .4 and overtime in game 7 for Dallas.  They could easily have 2 more rings cause there is no way they would have lost to the East.

It is also funny how supposedly the Spurs are crybabies and floppers, but they are also dirty and cheat.  You cant be both.  I have said this before.  They do flop a lot, but every team in the NBA does it.  Most people are blinded by Spurs hatred that they notice it on us more, or maybe it is that we are in the playoffs longer every year that you get the pleasure of watching us more :)

Suns Fans:  You cant say I cant wait for the Playoffs for no blood no foul, or I cant wait till Shaq pimp slaps Duncan, and then cry when Horry pimp slapped Nash last year.  Isnt that ironic, that you would want that?  Nash had blood last year and they called a foul, but yall all wined and wined and wined.  If you watch the replay on the hip check, Nash flopped a little bit at the end.  It was bad, but Nash added an extra degree to make it look worse.  He himself single handedly caused his teammates to come off the bench because of the extra flop.  And I also might be mistaken but didnt Stoudamire play game 6?  They lost that one with him, so what make you think you would have won?  Have you ever beaten us in the playoffs, besides the year Duncan was out?

Yes I consider basketball a contact sport. (I'm in HS basketball right now) With all the elbows flailing and people just literally plowing people over.

But I say whoever wins this series is the team with the best actors.  YES I SAID BEST ACTORS.  No I do not like it, but that is what I believe.

Go suns..

I never partcularly liked the Suns before Shaq, but I am rooting for them now. So your post is not very accurate for me.

The Spurs like to play rough--Let's see them do it with the Diesel. He will brutalize Duncan like always. Oberto will not fair any better.

Duncan is a great PF but a lousy Center.

Since the Admiral retired, the Spurs have never beaten Shaq in a series when his entire team was healthy. Not once. Rick Fox (a starter) was out when the Spurs beat the Lakers in 6 games in 2003.

The Suns have always lacked a true center. Even those great Barkley teams of the early 90's. That has finally changed.

Sorry, the system deleted part of my post

It deleted that Robinson retired in 2003 and that even with Robinson, the Lakers swept them in 2001.

Rick Fox????? LOL

I may be mistaken but it is not April Fools day.

What are you talking about that we have not beaten a Shaq team.  He ran away from the Spurs to play in the weak East.

We destroyed the Lakers and closed down the arena in 1999, and made Kobe and Fischer cry.  We beat them in 2003 thanks to Robert Horry missing a 3 pointer in game 5 in San Antonio, the next year with Malone, Payton, Kobe and Shaq, it took a .4 second shot by Fischer to give you the edge in which you lost to Detroit by a landslide.  The next year we win again doing what Shaq couldnt do.  Then he leaves to the weaker conference which is not our fault.  Welcome back to the West Shaq....Remember the Spurs.  You will after this series

Am I the only one who thinks that the Spurs are in trouble?

Check your history......when Shaq and Duncan have equal help---Shaq's team wins. Especially when Duncan has to spend much time playing low post defense.

The Spurs should have lost on purpose then the Mavs and Suns (which are the two teams that cause them the most problems) would have been on the other side of the bracket!!!

Until the Spurs are beaten in 7, they are the champs.  Forget who has the most ticket sales, or sells the most jersees, or has the most commercials, or who did what during the season.  Shaq is NO Tim Duncan.  Shaq will foul out or just plain sit on the bench during the series because he's tired.  He is a few years older than every Spurs or Suns player except Robert Horry.  Stoudemire will get his, Nash will get his, but the Suns lose the series.

your not very bright.  a distinct quote from shaq stands out to me after getting handled by Duncan

"Twiggy's Strong"

nice way to talk about probably the most fundementally sound PF in the game in recent years

And then the Heat came back in 07 to defend their title against the Spurs......................Oh no they lost in round 1.  The difference we dont have to be motivated to win, we just do it.  Shaq needs to be motivated, but I just think this is a little more than he can chew, and believe me looking at his weight he can chew alot.  It will be great to see, the only thing i dread is hearing the Suns fans cry for another offseason.  I dont know if i can do it again..........

Hopefully we have Finley and Oberto since they are STARTERS, we dont want to have an excuse on why we lost like other people always do

Oberto better stick with selling his beef jerky cause he and Duncan don't fare too well against Shaq and Amare.

God that was lame.  when Amare isn't crying about some foul hes decent on the offensive end though.  Shaq never did learn how to shoot from more then 6 inches from the hoop, and their faithful coach still employs the shoot-first-make-real-plays-later mentality.  yep suns are in gooood shape arnt they.

jjcraig81 is in BIG trouble; here is why (did you notice that I used a semicolon instead of a comma?):

1. Hungry Celtics? They're all hungry!  It's a question of who can eat more.  If Artie Lange was an NBA team, he'd win the Finals.

2. A very, VERY weak East.

3. Weak people a hungry too.  That doesn't mean that a homeless bum can out-fight me for a sandwich!

4. Tony Parker is getting some upper-eschelon p--n t--g.  You're jealous.  Think about this as you sleep next to a future Biggest Loser contestant tonight.

5.  EXPERIENCE (and grammar)!

There you have it folks...  Spurs will repeat; (another properly used semicolon) time to retire, (properly used comma) KG...
