All you guys are bitches, and the Jays are again showing why they are a classless organization that might luck out a championship every twenty years or so.....I bet you little backstabbing punk asses weren't bitching at Big Hurt last year when he was giving you 26 Hr's and almost 100 RBI's.....hell no, then he was the best thing since sliced bread.  Of course, we're talking about freakin' Canadiens here, what else would you expect.  Tell you what, when you learn to say about and not aboot, THEN we will talk about baseball and think you actually know what you're talking about. Frank needs to leave Toronto in a flash, showing you his ass to kiss on the way across the border back to real baseball country.

Can you give me examples of what the Jays have done in the past to show that there are a classless organization. So what if he hit 26 Hrs and drove in almost 100 runs, you don't start a 39 year old, based on what he did last year. The season is still early, he will have more than enough time to get his at bats if he his hitting well enough. The Blue Jays are trying to make the playoffs this year, they are not going to bench a guy who is getting the job done.

Jays are again showing why they are a classless organization that might luck out a championship every twenty years or so.

Since the Jays have been in the league they have the same amount of rings as the Dodgers

Hey Natch, call the Red Sox and tell them to bench Ortiz.  Call the Indians and have them Bench Sabathia.  He started this slow the last two years and came back to post pretty damn good numbers.  They're trying to save on salary.  There was an article written a few weeks back stating this too.  He went undrafted in both of the leagues I am in because we read that the Blue Jays would probably do this.  This is not a baseball move but a business move.  You must not be a true Blue Jay fan or you would be upset too.

Save salary?  I doubt Thomas has that many contract escalators and the rest of his contract is guaranteed.  And the Sabathia and Ortiz comparison is lame.  Those guys aren't 39.

Try to grab a clue before spouting off about a team you obviously know nothing about.

You very likely know nothing about Matt Stairs either who is out hitting Frank Thomas now and last year if you look at prorated stats.

Please think before posting.

It is a salary move as Thomas signed a two-year, $18-million contract with Toronto in November 2006. The deal includes a $10 million option for 2009, but only if Thomas makes 376 plate appearances this season. Thomas has stated that he thinks they are benching him in order to avoid meeting that option.  I mean who wants to pay a 40 year old 10 million a year. So karandrs know what you are talking about before you open your mouth.

I should have known after reading the first few sentences of the original poster that it would turn into a Canadian (correct spelling) bashing post. This guy cares nothing about baseball, he's just angry at Canada

When you learn to spell it "Canadians" and not "Canadiens" THEN we will talk about baseball and think you actually know what you're talking about.

It's obvious this guy doesn't want to talk about baseball, all he wants to do is bash Canada and use old false stereotypes. I wonder what countrry you came from.

Lets see he has 60 ABs already.  That's only 316 more Abs to go.  At 4 Abs per game he would only have to start 79 more games.  Now they already gave him 9 mil as a signing bonus and are paying him 8 mil this year.  If you don't think Thomas will get his Abs in you're crazy.  Matt Stairs has bounced around for a reason, 10 teams in 16 years, and those reason are that he isn't consistent, defense sucks, and can't stay healthy.  It's only a 2 mil difference from ditching this season and ditching next season.  You think the Jays will go through so much trouble to save a whole 2 mil this year?  For a team spending almost 98 mil this year it seems very unlikely they are doing this to save money.  The guy is just old.

I was hoping that the Blue Jays would beat out the Red Sox and Yankees for the first time in forever this year...... Until they made this petty move. Matt Stairs is a bum, Frank Thomas is a hall of famer. If he is hitting like this in late May i could see sitting him down. If he had a 4-4 night his average would be over .200. It is way too early for this. Robinson Cano is hitting like crap, as is Jim Thome, as is Paul Konerko, as did Vernon Wells all of last year. Frank has already won a couple of games this year for the Blue Jays. Maybe this is just a move to light a fire under him. If not, I hope the Red Sox and Yankees bury them in the standings like every year. If they cut him I hope they start a streak of finishing in last place every year for the next 20 years. Matt Stairs? Are you kidding me?

By the way, the guy they should be getting rid of is Gibbons himself. He's probably one of the bottom 5 managers in all of baseball.

You sound like 26/95 are big numbers. They suck for a team leader. Those are good numbers if it were 1968. 4 for his last 45, stop crying and take it like a man. It's good to see athletes do what's best for the team.....NOT!

Take it easy everybody.

Frank Thomas looks like he wil be released. I have to agree with the organization, I do not believe a DH struggling should earn 10 million at 40 years old. But then why offer it? Originally, the Blue Jays benefitted from a strong season from Frank, much like his season with the Athletics when everyone thought he was washed up.

No, Thomas will return, just not in a Jays uniform. I do not beleive Matt Stairs is much better, though I guess he plays outfield (if you call it that). Calling up Adam Lind doesn't sound like much of an upgrade, Shannon Stewart is hurt a lot. I think the Jays were budgeting, but that is business.

David Ortiz is batting .129 right now, C.C. Sabbathia couldn't hold down a good high school JV team, but they will get better. Both have dominated their position, Papi as the #3 hitter on a potent lineup, and C.C. as the ace for a contender. The Blue Jays have a big wall to climb in the Yanks and Red Sox, even the Rays this year, I do not believe they will contend. So it makes sense.

But let's not dog Canada. As Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead once said," It's like London inside Cleveland." And we all know Cleveland is as red, white, and blue as baseball. Or at least the American part of it, sans Suzuki and friends. Wait, maybe we are international.... and Canada, being a part of the world, is really always been a part of baseball.
