After more than 40 years of being a true Dodger fan, I am really frustrated with another year of not caring, big paychecks, and losing baseball. I bet Joe Torre wishes he were back in NY. Can anybody suggest a real baseball club I can support?
First and foremost, don't ever give up on the Dodgers. I have been a fan almost as long as you, and have felt as you do for a good long while.
My fix, and a fix for you as well, is minor league baseball. From your profile, I see that the Colorado AAA Sky Sox would be the option. For me, it is the Single A San Jose Giants. Yes, I said Giants. I feel no less a Dodger fan by being a be fan of this team. By going to their games ( being able to afford to at least ), and getting to see good quality baseball , played by kids who REALLY love what they are doing, it is a great thing.
Try it. I have never been to a Sky Sox game, but I will bet that you will like minor league ball.
BigD is right. Try minor league baseball. I go out to watch my local Harrisburg Senators play my Orioles AA bowie baysox. You get to watch younger versions of future stars.
Hey Dragon, what are you doing in the Dodgers forum? Last year my wife and I went to a Senators game against the Binghamton Mets, and since she is die hard Mets fan she didn't know who to root for. Minor league games are great because you can park your car, and buy two tickets for under $10 total.
One suggestion at City Island is to sit as close as possible behind homeplate. Thats were all the scouts sit and they are some pretty funny guys. The Cards, Tigers, and Indians scouts kept picking on the Yankee scout. I think they were jealous of him.
BigD, I dont care about affiliation, you are right, good baseball is good baseball. I get to see the Oaks play, (which by the way just got swept by those SJ Giants you spoke of), I just like to go see some pro baseball where they seem to still care. I am ok with them struggling in the standings, becasue I take a little bit of happiness from it knowing they are the D-Hacks advanced A team. The fun I get from it is seeing the players make it to the bigs. Just last season Justin Upton was here for a little bit, before he made it from A ball to the bigs in one season. Max Scherzer is their next big thing, he should be pitching for Arizona sometime this season, and he was awesome last year for Visalia.
I do get the chance this week to see the Inland Empire 66ers up close for the first and only time this year. Tues, Wed, Thurs, against the Oaks. James Adkins is scheduled to pitch on Thursday on four days, but I think he got moved back. So BigDMgr you may get to see him on Friday up in San Jose.
James Adkins another bigtime lefty coming up, 1st rounder last year, from Tennessee. He is going to be great. I cant wait to see 6'5" Lefty James Adkins following 6'3" Clayton Kershaw in a couple of years.
Sorry dodger fans but there is no way I would root for any team in the Dodger organization, but thanks for supprting the Giants minor league system all the same.
