I try to stick with players that I saw play. I was a kid during the 80's and didnt start watching football regularly until 89-90. At that point, most of Ronnie Lott's San Fran career was over.

Tough Call, way to many to only pick 5. How I have seen the Automatics,

but how do you rate guys like:
Rothman, Craig, Taylor, Charles Haley (even though he was trade) Keena Turner, Lott, Wright, Brent Jones, Merton Hanks, Ricky Waters (another trade), Bryant Young, Ken Norton Jr.
Picking a number 4 and 5 is truly the interesting picks. Guess I should, so:
Dwight Clark (maybe for the play that will live through history)

i'm just gonna stick to the guys i've seen play in niners gear...and since i'm 18 it's gonna be more modern players and what not.
Steve Young - he's what got me hooked on watching the 49ers. i thought he was crazy running around all the time.
Terrell Owens - you gotta admit this guy was a beast when he was with us. i personally think he had his best years here. plus, i found him really entertaining.
Jerry Rice - he's the GOAT. he has to be up there.
Bryant Young - it's not often you see a guy finish where he started. especially when those HORRIBLE seasons occurred. i'm sure this guy could've left before those horrible seasons and could've gotten a couple more rings with another team. you don't see "loyalty" too much now, especially with the cap.
Julian Peterson - still one of my favorite players in the NFL today.

Bill Walsh is the greates niner ever for sure, otherwise ther would be no rice, montana, or even a steve young. i can go on all day about the man- one thing is 4 sure- he will always be the greatest coach EVER!!!!!!!!! All very great picks, especially bringing up Walsh. I can't argue with a single one. I'm going to add 5 who haven't been mentioned:
- Eric Wright
- Hacksaw Reynolds
- Bill Ring
- Pierce Holt
- Russ Francis
Obviously, these guys aren't going to rank with Montana, Young, Rice, Craig, Lott etc., but each of them had great moments in Niner history. I bet you could make a list of favorite 5 OL, DL, LB, DB, Receiver, offensive backfield and still have trouble naming only 5 at each of those spots!

I could go on forever. There are so many players that I have fond memories of.
I know he was only a Niner for a year but would anyone have Deion Sanders on thier list.
How about,
Merton Hanks, I liked William Floyd, Newberry, T.O. (say what you want but he always came to play),
Point being there are so many it is difficult to keep it to just 5.
I will say Jerry Rice is my #1 of all time.

The majority have my three favorites of all time and that is to include any team in;
- Joe Montana
- Jerry Rice
- Ronnie Lott
By far these are my favorites, there have been others on the Dline, Oline not to mention Craig, Taylor and the emaculant reception (Dwight Clark), but I would have to say my next 3 would not be players.

- Joe Walsh
- George Seifert
To keep it at 5 I would regretfully drop George. Some great post and props to you fans.
