So my previous thread got me thinking... I though it would be interesting to order the top college basketball programs and then debate in what order they go in and where the different dividing marks are.. or tiers.

For example.. most people would have UNC,UCLA,KU IU,UK and Duke listed 1-6 with them being the top tier.. aka tier 1.

What would the next group of teams be.. and how many teams would be included into tier 2.. tier 3.. etc

I guess the first step is to compile a list of the "top" programs. (in no particular order.. yet)

  • Kentucky
  • North Carolina
  • UNLV
  • Kansas
  • Duke
  • UCLA
  • Syracuse
  • St. Johns
  • Indiana
  • Louisville
  • Arkansas
  • Atizona
  • Notre Dame
  • DePaul
  • Cincinnati
  • Villanova
  • Purdue
  • Connecticut
  • NC State
  • Texas
  • Marquette
  • BYU
  • Georgetown
  • Memphis
  • St. Joes
  • Gonzaga
  • West Virginia

Please keep adding to my list untill we get a list we feel comftorable with.. then we can rank them and debate where the teirs or breaks are.

Are these rankings for now or all-time?

All-Time Mens (I know how u Vol fans are) College Basketball Programs.

That would mean it includes past success but also the state of the prgram now. For example.. St. Johns is top 10 in all-time wins.. but they have had litte recent succes.. thus prob wouldnt be in the top 20 programs.

Feel free to add to my list.. if you think a team warrants inclusion

I think you can add Maryland, but I don't see how Gonzaga can make a list of top all-time programs.

Maryland should be added.. Gonzaga can be dropped.. everything is up for debate. Just need to make a solid list to start.

Well as of recent time I think Tennessee should be on there but history wise they shouldn't, Tennessee shouldn't be top 20 unfortunately.

If I think of any others I'll post em.

Also if you're going to add NC State, you may as well add Michigan too. Both have alot of past sucess but not very recent.

Good thread, making me think a little early!
