Regardless whether you think Dodd is right or not, there is an underlying problem here.  Whatever the BCS might or might not be..........THIS is what our elected officials in Washington are concerning themselves with?  You have GOT to be kidding me.  Housing crisis, 401(k) and IRA's losing money right and left, $4.00/gallon gasoline and a war on two different fronts going on and these jerks are looking at the BCS?  No wonder the country in going down the crapper!!!!!!  Don't even know why I am suprised anymore.  Good thing these guys are making ridiculous amounts of money while the rest of the country struggles to make it, otherwise they would be nothing more than oxygen thieves.  Hate to see these people if they had to ever get a real job and make ends meet like the rest of us.

The only reply i can say is,you are correct. Our goverment can be spending a lot more time on things that may, just maybe a little more important.Things such as,homeless people, changeing how we fight the war on drugs, kids who have no food or education. The war that is being fought, maybe they can find a way to get our soldiers home. When all of this "other stuff" is taken care of then maybe we will need congress to fix the B.C.S.First thing first.

I always think it is funny when people say "that's not what these elected officials were voted in for."  Make gas cheaper you say - sorry Congress can work 24/7 trying to help but they cannot change the effect on global demand and the fact that oil hovers above $100/barrel.  The war you say - I'm pretty confident over the past seven years Congress has changed it's mind on this topic but you have to get the executive branch to do the same.  How about education? Nope been working on that for decades but can't change the unions that create tenure and pensions that ultimately keeps the brighest from coming into the profession.

I guess I could go on and on - but why is it an issue for people when Congress asks the DOJ to look into a massive business deal that is based on back room agreements and may be illegal?  Bottomline people: the bowl system is not a reward for these athletes but an additional payday for conferences and the respective university - remember a nonprofit group.

Well stated my friend!  If that's all Congress has to worry about, then things are not as bad as everyone is making them out to be.  The BCS needs a total makeover.  All BCS Conferences need to be split into 2 divisions and there must be a conference championship game.  In order to play for a national championship, you must win your conference.  Then the 2 highest ranked conference champions will play for the title.  I am a huge UGA fan, and do agree that they got screwed last year, but until the rules change, then that kind of stuff will continue to happen.  Oklahoma lost to K-State in the conference championship and still played for a title.  in 2003 (I think).

Congress definitely has bigger things to worry about.  However, there is a ton of money involved in college football and the BCS process.  With that kind of money involved, there are grounds to look at this from a legal perspective.  Biased voters?  Biased schools?  Biased conferences?  Biased bowl committees?  All of these opinions are what determine BCS bowl matchups, which obviously earns the selected schools a lot of cash.  If the money wasn't a factor, Congress would have no place to stick their noses in.  Since there is, and the NCAA won't do anything about a very broker process, someone has to do it.

Just my two cents worth.

PEACE!!

I think you need another drink. Or a hefty dose of reality. I would much rather have congress try to fix the BCS than try to "fix" healthcare, or "fix" the price of gas, or "fix" welfare, or "fix" the environment. I could go on.........Haven't they done enough "fixing" already?
