acamargo84...I saw that same post on another thread, and all I can say is how disappointed I was that ignorance like that still exists.
Jesse, I'm impressed with your mystical mind reading powers. I'm impressed how from miles away you know exactly what I'm thinking about the Chad Johnson situation...all without knowing one single detail about me as a person. How impressive. I assume you have an application to Xavier's School for Gifted Children sitting on your desk? (that's an X-Men reference for all the non-geeks out there).
Wait, you mean you're NOT blessed with divine, magical mind-reading skills? You mean you just make generalizations about an entire group of people based on the color of their skin, and then try to pass this off as self aware enlightenment, just because you happen to generalize and disparage you own race? Sorry buddy...you're not insightful, you're not clever, or enlightened, or self aware. Mostly you're pathetic and close minded because you lack faith in humanity to think freely or individually.
And for the record, I blame Drew Rosenhaus for this situation, not Chad. So...since you're so quick to label and judge people...go ahead and call me anti-semetic because I'm blaming a Jew for being greedy, except I was raised by a jewish father so that's not really going to work. Sorry champ, you'll have to find some other close-minded, racially based generalization to label me.

ISSSHHHHHHHHH! Dude, c'mon. Social values??? This has nothing to do with what's PC, and what society deems as a value or quality in a person. This has to do with an NFL player who does a lot of humorous things on the football field in order to put the spotlight solely on himself!!!!! This threatened hold out is nothing different. This guy has been blessed with a load of talent. More talent than 99.99999% of the world, and you think its wrong of fans to judge this guy for holding out and bypassing $3M?
Do you realize what he could do with that money, or how many people he could help????
I like watching Chad Johnson play, but man, he's the second coming of T. Owens. Both of them need to learn a phrase that I learned from a coach when i was 5 years old.
"Act like you've been there before."

Its ignorant dumb ass comments like yours that make people racist. Everything in this world does not happen because of race. Johnson is a spoiled ass whiney P.O.S. who has more attitude than talent. I also am a Cowboys fan and would hate the cancer that is Ocho come to Americas team. And no team gives a crap about us because it is a corperation and it is a business. If it wasn't Ocho would have been beaten off the playground long ago. PEACE

The Cincinnati Bengals were not a playoff team with Chad Johnson, but without him, they become one of the worst teams in the league. Telling your best player to go ahead and sit out the year is ridiculous. Either make him happy, or trade him and get something back.

I have always been a fan of Chad till last year...........Does anyone recall how many dropped balls he had...........How bout Cleveland...........Too busy worrying about the dog pound and drops one on the sidelines.........How bout Seattle..........Remember that.........Both games early in the year that could have made a difference in their season...........I, for one, am tired of him and hope like hell they let him go and get some value for him before he becomes another T.O..........

Jesse, i don't understand why you think players lose out in contract situations. usually their signing bonuses are very hefty so in case they get cut or renegotiate their money at the back end of the contract they still have been handsomely paid. that's the nature of the beast. many great players have taken large signing bonuses with no expectation of living out the length of the contract. chad was just used to being top dog and dosen't like being second fiddle.

It is not a race issue at all. It is about selfishness, attitude and greed.
The greatest football player of all time is Jerry Rice and he did not act a fool, like CJ and T.O. and many other players in the NFL now.
When Jerry Rice scored touchdowns he handed the ball to the ref (unless he just broke a record) and celebrated with his TEAM!

Just look how good the Alexader contract worked out for the Seahawks. Let's see ... How did that go? RB wins MVP. Now wants more money. Team hesitates because they are afraid that once he gets his money he will not perform. RB complains in the media. Team folds and gives RB a big contract. RB does not perform to the level of his pay. Team still pays RB. Team must cut RB because he is not worth the money. RB will now go sign another contract with another team with another signing bonus and make more money. Being an NFL player sucks. I think I will go to work and perform at a higher level than my pay or I will get cut. Why can't I get a signing bonus?

No, Jesse, contracts in the NFL are not guaranteed. But signing bonuses sure as hell are. And in Chad's case, he was the recipient of several millions of dollars in a signing bonus before ever taking a snap under his new contract.
So, by your logic, I guess Chad should be giving back some of that bonus money, right?
You know, man, don't give me any that poor boo-hoo non-guaranteed contract crap. Ricky Williams tested positive several times for narcotics, was banned from the league, and how much of his signing bonus did arbitrators make him pay back? Like $2 million. An absolute fraction of the bonus check he cashed. All he did was absolutely screw the Dolphins. Oh, and what cash he may have had left, the drug addict got to keep. Stunning really. The owners really made out on that one, huh?
If you can convince me that this is fair, I'm all ears. I'd love to hear a rebuttal, really.
By the way. These guys(the truly gifted ones), ALL get huge signing bonuses. They ALL do. So if a guy is no longer productive | |
