I think he is doing an OK job, you had to know he wasnt gunna hit over .300 like he did the first 2 weeks. They knew pitchers would figure him out and begin to throw him sliders outside with 2 strikes. I think the Twins have regressed him so far this season. If you have watched him the last week he has been watching the first pitch go by. So he begins with a strike on him, then he has seemed to take a big cut at the second strike missing or fouling it off now with 2 strikes he has had better swings but cant find a way to lay off the slider breaking away or the curve that hits the plate. I say let him rip at that first ptich it seems to be the best pitch he sees.
I think he will figure it out around June and cut the strike outs down. Though he stuck out 4 times last night he fouled off some good pitches. it wasnt throw 3 pitches past him liek what happened early in the season, he did do a decent job fouling off some pitches but couldnt find a way to put one in play.
Gomez is are best leadoff hitting option, and best CF we have. I like Gardy keep giving him CF everyday, sometimes it hurts a guy to take him out of the line up when he is struggling. I believe Gomez will figure it out a little bit more as the season goes on, it seasons he wants to learn, let him figure out the pitchers and let him figure out the bigs and he will be fine. If he can learn to hit a ggrounder in 1/2 his strike out he would have a handful of hits. If he learns to just put the ball in play he will beat out some hits and make fielders hurry and make mistakes.
