When Walt Jocketty was hired, I knew Krivsky was on thin ice. Honestly, I think Krivsky did some good things for the Reds and set us up for great things in the near future. However, he was a bit on the arrogant side and I just don't think you can make a guy like Jocketty second in command. The Reds are loaded with propects who should/are developing right now. If the reds don't make the playoffs this year, I definitely think they will next year.

This absolutley was coming, but it's just a little bittersweet in a way. Without Krivsky, there'd be no Brandon Phillips, Bronson Arroyo...errrr...there'd be no Brandon Phillips. I guess that's pretty much it. I remember him firing trades left and right early on, but not much ever came of it. I agree that someone like Jocketty has to be given the job. The Reds ARE loaded with young talent, but I'm still very optimistic about THIS year. I still believe the offense will come around at some point, at which time I think the Reds will make a great run to close the gap and at least get Cincinnati excited about baseball again.

Definitely a no brainer decision. Overpays for washed up players, and we still have nothing to hit left handing pitching well enough to win with consistency. I will say the man was not all bad. They are closer to being a contender now than they were when he got there just from the pitching side.

It's definitely too early to lose hope for this season. I think that's why Castellini did this now. The offense will be fine when the weather heats up. I just hope the pitching stands up when the balls start flying out in the Cincinnati humidity.
The offense hasn't been a worry in Cincinnati for years. The pitching has. Since we are getting such good play from Volquez and Cueto, I think we will be in very good shape this summer.

At least Krivsky did a good job of dumping knuckleheads on Washington. Their line up looks like Cincinnati East. Good enought to keep them in last place, too.

I hope Jocketty can help turn the team around. Krivsky did a good job while he was here. Only making a few contraversial trades. Heres to the Reds turning around their season.
For once the starting pitching isnt holding us back. We need to find a decent pitcher for the 5th spot in the rotation and need to switch up the order in which they pitch. They should go Harrang, Cueto, Volquez, Arroyo, and whoever else ends up starting. With Harrang, Cueto, and Volquez back, to back, to back we have a better chance at winning more series. Arroyo was a one hit wonder his first season. I like the guy but the NL hitters seem to have figured him out. Now we just need to keep hitting like we did last night and try sure up the bullpen. Maybe use Bailey as a middle inning reliever since I dont think he will ever be a great MLB starting pitcher. Has great stuff but gets rocked whenever he comes up.

Walt is a good GM and did a great job in St. Louis. He makes the minor deals that put your team over the top when they have a chance. (Larry Walker types). He also can pull the trigger on bigger trades like Big Mac. The toughest thing about Walt is he is so close to the vest with information that you never know until it is done. It makes sports talk and speculation almost nothing for the fans of his team.
When do you expect to see Jay Bruce in the majors? I think this will expidite his call up in May. Patterson will get one more shot to get hot and then he will find the pine for good.
Many in St. Louis are happy for him.

Lets not give up on Homer Bailey yet! He's definately gotten pushed to the back of the fans' minds, behind the great performances from Volquez and Cueto, and probably rightfully so. They've developed faster than he has. But remember the time when Bailey was the number 1 minor leaguer in America? Anyone remember his major league debut? The ballpark was the loudest it has been in years. When Bailey got out of his 5th inning jam to strike out a batter and set himself up for a decision (which he earned), the place went nuts like it hasn't in a LONG time. So he's taking a little while to get some things under control. Many, MANY successful players had limited success in their first few years. Bailey could be a superstar, just give him time. And if he does, we have Cueto, Volquez, Bailey. One-two-three punch of starting pitching for the future...

How much worse could Homer be than Fogg or Belisle. Belisle sucks.

Wow. Kudos for Castellini for not taking the slow start lightly. Firing a GM or even coach this early takes balls. Shame, though, I remember such high hopes when Krivsky was hired, but in the end, he had never run an organization as a GM. Jockety is a proven commodity. Not sure what kind of impact he can have this season though, but I guess they didn't want to see Krivsky make any more moves.
