I think the fitting Finals will be the Celtics - Spurs. Hear me out.

The Lakers are primed and ready to be the future of the Western Conference. As a Spurs fan I am able to admit that they are. All the pieces are in place for them to be the dominant force in the West, however, I do not believe the Spurs are done with their run and as the  elite of the West. Until Duncan cannot  put up the types of numbers he does night after night with his supporting cast, I just don't see an end to it this year.  Yes, time is ticking against them and the hourglass is running out of sand, but not yet.

Now to my point. Now if the C's make it to the finals, which is highly possible, It would only be fitting for them to knock off the Spurs in the Finals. If the Lakers make it to the Finals, those who simply want to relive the glory days (C's vs Lakers) will be satisfied, but these are not the glory days, so I don't see it happening.....yet. To make it the glory days something drastic has to happen such as beating the Spurs in the finals. If Boston and Spurs make it to the finals and the Spurs lose, I could see that as a passing of the torch. Much more historic than Shaq leaving the Lakers to go play for another team...leaving the door open for the Spurs. Maybe I just want Drama and passion instead of trades and money but to me that would be fitting.

but for now
Go Spurs Go

Your scenario there though involves the Celts beating the Spurs, which personally I don't think will happen, but it could.
And honestly I don't think it would be a passing of a torch so much as the ending of an era. The Celts as they are now won't last much longer than the Spurs will, Duncan and KG will leave around the same time, and Allen's not getting any younger. Both of those teams are built to win now.

But I agree that it would make for a tremendous Finals, I prefer the drama to be focused on the court instead of whining and trades off of it.

Hey you guys with the flops are hilarious.  It really is true jealousy.  Did you guys (and you know you did) see Amare flop in the forth when everyone was scrambling for the loose ball.  We have Sea World here is SA and I haven't seen Shamu flop that hard.

Get over it.  It's part of the game and just like hack-a-Shaq you are just on the wrong side.  And by the way the Spurs didn't invent flopping so ease up and take the loss like a man; admit you got outplayed and show some class.

LOL well said Eman

Yeah well don't you know that only the Suns are allowed to flop? I thought you had seen the changes in the rulebook.

Hey baller, sorry man.   I thought that was going in next year when they change the rules so if Shaq gets fouled Nash shoots his free throws and then the Suns get the ball back.

Im not a big fan of either but i like watching their games. and my 2 cents are... well Suns had it and then they hid under a rock and the Spurs took it and when they realised it it was 2 late to get from under the rock. in my opinion if the suns wake up it could go either way but if they keep on hiding spurs will be gone in 4 and suns left with nothing again.

No since the Spurs are David Stern's favorite team that rule will never get put in.
The Spurs have too much media coverage to restrict their hacking abilties

Baller

I don't think that the Celtics can beat the Spurs in a Finals series either, but for the sake of painting a picture, I think that would be the only other way I would want the Spurs to end their run besides a back to back or even a three-peat. The more I think about it the more I realize how nice it has been to root for them these past 10 years - and what a privilege it really is.

Same here man, the Tim Duncan era will go down as one of the greatest in the history of any sport. So many people will probably realize how great he is only after he's gone. The same with Popavich. I'm almost certain that he and Duncan will retire at the same time.
