Violations of league rules is not an area of concern???? He has to obssess as Arlen Specter has threatened to take legal action against the NFL is any wrongdoing is uncovered. Or for lack of a better term a "coverup" is revealed. I know you are a Pats fan and frankly I'm not sure the stolen hand signals matters much. However, if the Pats did in fact tape a wlak through (i.e. game plan), that does alter the balance of game planning. Some will argue that players make plays, etc....however, Jimmy Johnson will admit during a minnimum access NFL commercial taping the Buffalo Bills in a former Super Bowl, he noticed Jim Kelly "practicing a shovel pass to Thurman Thomas" when the staff reviewed the Bills regular season tape they had never run that play all year long!!!
I think the NFL films story discussed the Bill ran the play 4 times in the Super Bowl...two for 1-2 yard gains, 1 for a loss, and 1 was a forced fumble (turnover).....
Don't confuse game film vs. game plan (walk through tape)!!! Don't kid yourself, having a game plan (walk thorugh) makes all the difference if the Patriots had access to this info. And remember it was the Rams that were heavily favored as the Pats were an unproven and new team to their Super Bowl rise. On record this was an upset...The commissioner should obssess or face "conspiracy federal charges, risk the loss of protections afforded the NFL by federal law, etc...."
