U the best diesel...U prove it everytime. Now why don't they just give u the ball all the time big boy...Why did kobe get so frustrated with you?
Nash for MVP? HUH? I said it as a Laker fan for years that it was all white media favoritism. Nash can't stop anyone yet he is the most valuable??
If Kobe doesn't win it this year then we will all know its because they don't like him personally...forget about the mans defensive and offensive talents. Oh and how he can single handedly defeat teams like he almost did against a better Phoenix team a couple of years ago.
Silence for all u Suns bandwagon fans....Entertain us with excuses or haterade now cause that is all you have left...the truth is out there now! You would revamp your whole team if you could get a player like Kobe. Better sit Nash again cause he looks tired!
You need to wake up dude!!!!!Shaq is a former shell of himself.Nash is a great ball player.Maybe the Mvp's he got are questionable but if you are even in the running for that award you must be great. So give the guy his props. No one in their right mind would sit him.
I think this years MVP is a close one between Kobe and Chris Paul.
You might be right about one thing...The only reason Kobe hasn't won it yet is because no one has liked his attitude in the past.but I will give him credit and say that he has become a team player this year and made those around him better.
But if Kobe doesn't win it this year it's not because of some big scandal or something like that,it's just a fact that there are some very good ball players that deserve it also. And they are not white so you won't have nuttin' to complain about.Chris Paul deserves it as much as Kobe does.
With that being said....I am not a fan of either team but they both have turned there teams around and thats what the MVP is all about. It's not about who scores the most,it's about whether the team is a loser or a winner with or without those players.
First off, Shaq was the team back when the Lakers were winning their championships. Sorry Kobe fans, without the Diesel, there are no rings for Kobe. It is sad to see a player of his caliber get old, but hey, it happens. I think he should retire after this season, but he is probable too prideful to do so.
Nash won the MVP because of his offensive abilities, not his defense. He turned players such as Diaw and Barbosa into stars. Not so much Diaw anymore, but he was really good a few seasons ago. Plus, when the Suns were really good two seasons ago, I think they went like 1-5 with Nash out of the lineup. As for this year, Kobe should win, but I think it will be close with CP3, but I'm sure Paul would rather win in the playoffs than win the award.
I told all of my buddies the Spurs are still the team to beat before the playoffs started. With them being all Lakers fans, they see no way the Spurs will make it out of the West. After watching the first 3 games of this series..the Spurs are definitely the team to beat in my opinion
If you are making the claim that Kobe helps his team win more matches through his individual contribution then you are wrong - the award should go to LeBron or Chris Paul. By the way, these figures were from the last week of the regular season.
On offense:
CP3: 21.2ppg + 11.5apg @ 2ppa = 44.2 total per game
King: 30.2 ppg + 7.3 apg @ 2ppa = 44.8 total per game
Kobe: 28.6 ppg + 5.4 apg @ 2ppa = 39.4 total per game
On defense: Chris Paul: 2.7 steals per game but 0.0 blocks per game (when rounded) - total 2.7
LeBron: 1.8 steals per game but 1.1 blocks per game - total 2.9
Kobe: 1.9 steals per game and 0.5 blocks per game - total 2.4
Kobe clearly trails in both categories, and he also plays on a team with other very good players (imagine what CP3 or LeBron could do with Gasol and Bynum on their team). Statistically he doesn't help his team win as many matches as other players in the league do - its the Most Valuable Player award. Allowing for a slight fluctuation in minutes played, CP3 and LeBron are pretty much inseparable - I would give it to CP3 because if the Hornets make the WEstern Conference finals it will be on his back against far better opposition thatn LeBron has had to face along the way.
White Media Favoritism? Get off it, man. Nash made that entire team better - way better - when he arrived.
As for Shaq, I think it's laughable that the Suns picked him up specifically for the match-up against the Spurs and it is totally backfiring on them. Shaq makes the once flashy Suns look old and slow.
What are you talking about white favoritism from 1986-2004 all the MVPs were black. The is favoritism in the other direction if you ask me but yes i will agree black people tend to really excellerate in basketball but that is not to say that a white person can not. Steve Nash is the best Team player in the NBA. And he deserved his mvp's. So next time do your research before you post crap like that. It is people like you (I don't me the color of your skin when i say people) that keep racism alive in the country (and i don't mean only you there are plenty of white and black people that do). Anyway i just thought that comment you said was out of line but other than that i agree with you on some of your thread.
I've never been a Shaq fan but I willsay that he is older than he was few years back and not as healthy as he was a few years back and when he won championships in LA it was because he led the team, not Kobe. Get over it and go on is all you can do.
The reason the Lakers won their championship was Shaq. Kobe should've been traded to rebuild the team cuz he is still a ball hog. The best player in the league, and he has been for a good 10 years now, is Duncan. He should be the MVP. Every year he puts up solid numbers and leads the Spurs to the playoffs. Nash, Lebron, Paul all make their teams better and lead them to the playoffs, but nobody does it better than Duncan.
dvgravity, if the award was for the best player over the last 5 years, I would wholeheartedly agree with you.
However, it is the Most Valuable Player in a given year - and, this year, Duncan hasn't been up to par with LeBron and CP3. Whether thats due to injuries, facing triple teams when Tony Parker was down or a slight loss of athleticism with age, is irrelevant. He's undoubtedly hugely valuable to San Antonio but, without LeBron and CP3 respectively, Cleveland and New Orleans are picking at the top of the lottery. Without Duncan, the Spurs would still have Parker and Ginobili.
Duncan makes my All-Time All-Star team, yet this year there have been two guys who have been exceptional
