Boy I wonder what the Steve Nash fans will use an excuse this series.I mean I actually had the Suns going to the west finals, that is before I learned they had to play the Spurs in the first round.I still didnt think the Spurs would whip them like this because it was so close the first game.I felt that they couldnt beat them twice in a row seeing as the Suns had big leads in both of their first two losses.I will have to say along with the Nash fan's who claim he is a hall of fame pg,I was wrong.
Dont blame this on the Shaq trade or anything.Just blame it on the Spurs just being the better team.If Nash was as great as you say he is and he makes players better,we cant use Shaq as the scapegoat. He shouldve made Shaq better or even helped him with his free throw shooting(lol).Anyway thats not what determined the series.Parker's quick buckets and domination of Steve Nash played a major role in those comebacks.Statistically in the last two games Nash held his own, however he still couldnt stop Parker and the last game proved that.
Since we give Nash all the credit for the Suns winning and praise him like he's the little engine that could, then we should give him credit for not even being able to win 1 out of 3 games against a beatable team. And the other day a guy was ragging on me about how Nash played ONE game against Baron Davis.Well he played 3 games against Tony Parker and obviously Parker is the better pg to have right now.
Shaq played well during the series even though the Spurs were smart in slowing him down with the Hack a Shaq.Stoudemire played great but was completely schooled by Tim Duncan for the most part.Barbosa I never really liked that much anyway and I doubt he would ever be a starter since he doesnt understand how to pass the ball out of double teams and traps.Nash held his own but what was the series breaker?Tony Parker, who is hands down the MVP of this series.Ginobli showed up and so did Duncan, but Parker led the charge on all those comebacks with his lightning speed and quick baskets.
Didnt I call it for the Spurs(referring to Bruce Bowen)?I knew Bruce Bowen could guard Steve Nash and it worked perfectly.Bowen checked him in the last couple of games but they never sticked with him because of his offensive liabilities. However I wouldve kept him on Steve Nash from the jump and have him hound him like he did last night.Great players at least make it to the finals and Nash has yet to do that.Lets wait one more year and see what he has left in the tank.I just dont see it though.
