BucFan40, I hope you dont think 17 TD's over 4 years is good. If you combine special teams and WR play.
If some of those are coming on special teams, i'm fine with it. We need a returner. Spurlock broke the curse but he is not a very good returner.
What makes it even worse is it was at a D-1AA school.
So did Flacco. So did Tony Romo. So did T.O. Coming from a small school doesn't matter.
Manningham is not worth a pick? When you compare Numbers, and numbers dont lie, Manningham played against better comp and bottom line he has better numbers! He had 10 more TD's than Jackson. Who cares if his wonderlick test was bad, he is not a player who gets in trouble, and puts up numbers. If he is scoreing TD's what are you going to say "who cares if he scores because he is stupid". If he can play ball who cares. So what if he got shut out of one half of a football game, his stats are better
Numbers do lie. If a DE has a sack in a game, it doesn't mean he played great. It means he got off the ball quick. Playing against good competition doesn't matter all that much. Who played against better competition, t.o. or jaquez green? The jackson pick was based more on his return ability. In gruden's offense, you need to be smart and obviously manningham is not. He does get in trouble. He told NFL teams that he doesnt and has never failed a drug test and the next day, he fails one. He won't score in the NFL. He's too slow, small, and well, too dumb to function in Gruden's offense. I care that he got shut down by a freshman, that until that year, had never played corner. Big-time receivers do not get shut down by freshman corners. I can't even begin to tell you how bad of a pick that would have been.
Bucs fans do we really want to draft another florida WR? Jacquez Green, reidel Anthony, both who were bust's.
Here's the difference. Caldwell played in Zook's pro-style offense and was successful. He played in Meyer's offense wich is really the West Coast system out of the shot-gun and with a running qb. They run crosses and stuff like that. He was again, successful in that. He's Florida's leading receiver all-time. He only played in about 3/4 of his games which presents a concern but most of the missed games were because of a broken leg. Anyway, he only played in about 3/4 of his games and still put up great numbers. He is also a bigger build and can therefore put some weight on. He's still on the board and runs a 4.29. manningham runs a 4.6 i think thats about .3 better. If the bucs draft mannigham, i'm selling my tickets

:) You are thinking just like me GrudenIsNotEvil...I would LOVE for Andre Caldwell to fall to us. Imagine us getting TWO burners...
People are hesitant when drafting Florida receivers because of "the system". I personally believe the system doesn't really matter all that much under Urban Meyer. Meyer runs a spread offense unlike the fun and gun which boosts stats.
Andre has much to learn but has great skills and can become a great number 2 wide receiver and maybe...just maybe, prove himself as a number 1.

There is one D1AA player no one has spoken of at Wide Receiver...where did Jerry Rice come from again?
I am not saying this kid is Jerry Rice...I am saying kids from small schools can be talented and make it in the "Bigs".

Andre has the potential to be a super-star in this league. He's a lot faster than manningham and is 6'1 200. I heard that his body type allows him to put on another 15 pounds. A 6'1 215 WR running a 4.3. God.
manningham- He will be a bust in this league. he is slow, dumb, and got shut-down by a freshman. Top-tier guys don't get shut down by frshman in their last collegant game. Personally, i like michigan's other receiver, Arrington. That kid could be really good. He's bigger and has good speed too. However, he has some serious off-field issues that i hope he can get over.

final thing: Caldwell blew manningham out of the water in every combine event. Caldwell ran a 4.37 at the combine then ran a 4.29 at his campus workout.

Still 8 picks to go until we use our first of the day. I think we do still need more explosiveness on offense...we need Caldwell.

3 picks to go and Andre Caldwell is still there...many individuals ranked below him have come off the board. Hopefully Gruden has him on his board...we could use a few wide receivers with speed and potential. The speed could actually make Maurice Stovall better as it would open the middle of the field up more...for his possession receiver-like style.

How does Early Doucet go before Andre Caldwell? While I thought Early was a good wide receiver in college...I didn't see his skills translating to a pro style offense.
We are on the clock!!!

We went OG...I can see that...getting younger and younger on the line. I wonder where John Gruden has Andre Caldwell on his list. Zuttah hopefully can continue our success with recent picks on the o-line

y? that was such a terrible pick. my god why would they do that? We have caldwell, a great receiver available and we draft a guard? Why?

While I don't myself understand the pick with Davin Joseph and Aaron Sears doing well on the line...we don't have much depth in the OG. I wonder if John Gruden is attempting to learn from the problems we had early in the year last year when we lost Cadillac Williams. You can't place all your eggs in one basket...so I am praying the Bucs know what they are doing taking another guard this year.

We just sgined lher to a big contract meaning z won't play center for a while plus we brought in faine. He won't play guard for a while because we have joseph and sears. He won't play tackle for a long time because of penn and trublood. Way to go allen, way to pass on Caldwell or the DT from Arkansas.
