yea... The only reason he fell is because he smokes pot? Its about time the NFL stops thinking this is such a HORRIBLE thing. NEWSFLASH... Weed is less harmful than alcohol!!! I am still in shock that Ricky Williams was suspended out of the league for this.

HEY GRANDPA... GET USED TO IT!!! A long time ago, people beleived beer and alcohol needed to be made illegal. And back in the 50's they made maryjuana out to be some horrible thing that makes you go psycho. Guess what... THEY WERE WRONG!!!

I cant smoke because it is "illegal"? Its about time we start asking ourselves why? If I had my choice, I'd make alcohol illegal, and weed legal!

This is from a man who never tried the stuff until he was 30 yrs old! NOT 14... 30!!!

GROW UP!!!

I don't see this as a risk, I think Manningham was one of the best receivers this draft. If he's nearly as productive as Toomer, the Giants will have a solid receiver for years to come.

I don't think there was as much concern about him smoking marijuana in the past as there was about him lying about it and his failed drug tests, in person.  And you guys completely miss the point when you talk about how "it's not that bad".  You have to question the intelligence of someone willing to jeopardize millions of dollars to smoke a little dope.  For his sake hopefully the lesson's been learned.

tacobite hit the nail on the head. It doesn't matter if some posters on CBS have a problem with league policy, it has more to do with the fact that the kid is dumb enough to chance his future when he knows its wrong. You'd have to live under a rock to not see what pot did to Ricky Williams career (i.e. got him booted from the league), so why chance it? I've tried it before, it wasn't so mind blowing I was willing to chances millions of dollars.

I'll tell you how its a risk.  If he just smoked a little pot its no big deal.  Taking pain pills to get high is a much bigger deal.  Its more indicitive of a likely druggie lifestyle.  And if he smokes pot every day it means he probably can't stop and will have multiple failed druge tests and suspensions during his career.  It will affect his training habits and he'll never be as good as could be.  Let me guess, he just hapened to get caught the the one time he was smoking pot.  What a coincidence!  If you're dumb enough to get caught you're already probably an addict, or very very stupid, another quality you don't want in your player.

I really don't understand how this is a problem either. Marijuana wow who at some point hasn't tried marijuana.  Maybe Manningham should have entered some Hollywood rehab center and said the words "I'm trying to turn my life around." Then people's reactions would have been he's a stand-up guy and there could have been an inspirational movie made out of it with the ending of it being him stretching the ball over the goal line on a hail mary as time runs out.  Any takers? Because that is a great idea folks.

Taco...

The more I think about this, the more I think you are 100% right!

It really doesn't matter what you or I beleive about this... The fact is that he NFL does not approve of it. And this is their "product". They have to be able to sell this as something we all can be proud of!

So here's hoping Manningham... and Aquib Talib... and Anyone else in the NFL that uses this can understand that right now,  you have to be able to controll yourself! Whatever you beleive, this is the NFL... not JR. Varsity. This is a product that we ALL love.
