I'm not going to say that I think, I'm going to say that I know Cotto will beat any Welterweigh out there, and he is going to prove it when he beats down Margo. Margo is a strong boxer but let's keep it real, he ain't no good opponent for Cotto, maybe for Mayweather it might be a good opponent, but Mayweather to scared to fight any of this two fearless men. so I don't care what anybody says but I got Cotto winning by KO in the 8th.

You would think that some of these boxers that some of you comment on are your kids! The support & confidence that is displayed is amazing. I would'nt go so far to state that "I know Cotto will beat any Welterweight out there" such as ocol1557 is saying. He's been knocked down & has had difficulty with lesser opposition. Based simply on that, how can you say that you know that he can beat any welterweight?

Cotto has never faced a Floyd Mayweather and Mayeather has never faced a Miguel Cotto.
Cotto will be kept off-balance by Mayweather's counterpunching and defense. Mayweather will get hit hard throughout the fight.
If it goes to decision, and if Floyd can withstand some hard shots, Floyd probably wins. But, Cotto has a combination of skills that is overwhelming, and Floyd will be surprised early with Cotto's speed and ability to box. Cotto can fight Floyd's fight better than Floyd can fight Cotto's fight. Very tough call.

What type of boxer has never been knocked down? Been knocked down is part of the boxing sport is like getting a foul in the NBA that you shouldn't get it, but you still do. Besides he got knocked down in tough fights and this was when he was coming up I dont think Cotto is my kid like Welterweight be saying but I just keep it real. The reason why Floyd is already talking about retirement was that " He wants to retire boxing and not let boxing retire him" And right now he knows that Cotto is growing, and he is scared that why he wants to retire with the undefeated and easy fights he has won. Welterweight; I know your a Floyd suporter but please dont fool your self making comments that not even you believe are real. So in resume his retirement is due to one person and his name Miguel Cotto.

ocol1557,
Remember those last sentences you typed come next year. I want to see what your next excuse will be. All the nay sayers predicted Corrales, Zab, Oscar, & Ricky. After they lost we heard every excuse from "I didn't get good sparring in", to "I hurt my hand & therefore wasn't able to properly train", to "I thought I did enough to win the fight", to "My body isn't built to fight in the welterweight division." All of you critics were right behind them supporting them with these same excuses. Where were these same boxers & you with these excuses before the fight? Those excuses were nowhere to be found or heard. So, in summary, remember those last sentences you wrote come next year. You too, will be nowhere to be heard from. Instead what we'll hear is how the Cotto vs. Margarito winner is the next to dethrone the pound 4 pound king. Followed by whoever else you say is the next great hype. Then as Mayweather prepares for retirement the next buzz will be Andre Berto. Keep talking!!

Welterweight, you are only talking about people that have lost fights you can't really that I came with some excuses, because what I said is a real fact: " Any boxer could get knocked down", but that dont mean nothing as long as he wins the fight. Why is it so hard for you to say "OK ocol1557, your'e right Cotto is one of the best of the Welterweights" Maybe because he upset one of your'e favorite boxers or maybe because you don't like the guy. The excuses youre talking about are of people that has lost fights, Cotto hasn't loss any fight, but just in case let me get you a refresh in his record is 32-0 w/ 26 ko. And you could already add Margarito's and Mayweather's so the real updated record is 34-0 w/ 28 ko. But something I agree with you is on Andre Berto I think he has the potential to be one of the best of the welterweights, as long as he doesn't gets in the way of Mosley, Margarito, Paul Williams, Quintana, and Cotto. But eventually he will be on the top when all these guys retire. I would also say Mayweather but he is probably going to be retire after his fight with Cotto.

Welterweight PBF is not the P4P king!!!! I would dare say that Manny P. is the real P4P king at this point in time. Anyhow, this P4P thing is crap anyway. Seems like everybody and their mother has been called P4P best at one time or another.
Second point. PBF was knocked down by Zab. Yes, I know the ref ruled it a slip but the slow mo replay cleared showed that PBF went down on the end of a Judah punch.
I like both sportsavant7 and ocol1557 assessment. Both make good points. We can all go round and round, back and forth on why PBF or Cotto will win. I hope this fight can be made in the future. I would love to come back here and is I told you so.
I will say this again. Both Cotto and Mayweather will win a little something if and when they fight. Cotto will win the boxing titles. Mayweather will have his name placed in the Guiness World Book of Records for running the fastest marathon in a boxing ring.

Is this for real? Manny P4P LOL
1. Floyd
2. Calzaghe
3. Pavlik
4. Israel Vazquez
I love Pac-man but you really aren't a student of the game if you make statements like that!
lastly i agree Cotto is a top 3 welter weight, but you wanna see someone running a track meet watch the 12th round against Mosley and watch Cotto get on his horse!
If you can admit to me that Floyd is better than Shane and Cotto only beat Shane by 1 or 2 points and couldn't knock him down you will answer your own question!
here is a stat from the Mosley Cotto fight might surprise even you!
Power Puches
Cotto Mosley
Throwen 387 335
Landed 150 177
% 39 53
p.s. Maybe Floyd should get back Bob Arum he has done a wonderful job making Cotto something he just isn't! Lastly don't be surprised if Cotto backs out this fight with Tony by faking an injury

MrJim021 like I said we can go round and round with this all day. This P4P thing is bull. Styles is what makes fights.
Interesting the P4P picks you have, though. Tells me a great deal about you. How do you not have Manny in the top 4 is beyond me. He has basically cleaned up on all the tough Mexican fighters. Pac does not duck anyone.
You honestly think Tony will beat Cotto? Tony has a few loses under his belt. This means the man can be beat. There is no question in my mind that Cotto will outbox him. Cotto has been in some tough ones but has always found a way to win. The same cannot be said about Tony who lost to overrated Williams. Yes, Tony is tough but brute force is not everything my man.
Mosley is not an easy fight for anyone and quite frankly I had my doubts about Cotto and yet he won the fight. Granted Cotto kept away from Mosley in the latter rounds but he kept fighting. He picked Mosley apart while keeping his distance. No easy feat my man.
Now as far as punch stat numbers is concerned. We all know the Cotto Mosley fight was close. We all have eyes but looking at total stats does not give the clearest picture. Cotto's jab cou | |
