Prisco Loves the Colts and Pats... Again...

Prisco is about as hopeless as they come. Fox Sports and ESPN I think did a much job dissecting the draft.

So you opened this article, went right to the Chargers, saw that Prisco did not give them an A then went to the Pats and Colts and said I am going to say something negative no matter what grade Prisco gave them.

What is not to like about the Colts draft?

Their first round pick was traded, but for it they got a starting LT for the next 10 years.  Good move.

Their 2nd round pick was the best C in the draft, and Jeff Saturday is 33.  There is a also a spot to fill at G and they thing this kid could fill in there to start.

Their 3rd round pick is a LB that, according to Scouts INC. "is a relentless pass rusher"

Their 4th round pick is a pass-catching TE - I'm sure Peyton Manning can't use another weapon.

Their 5th round pick is another pass rusher that actually had a 3rd round grade.

The Colts really needed to bolster the DE and interior offenseive line positions, and did just that.  I think BIll Polian gets the benefit of the doubt, Bolt Masta Bater...

Why was the Colts draft not that good?

They traded their 1st round pick this year for their starting LT last year, who held up pretty well as a rookie and will get better with an offseason spent with the Colts trainers.

Their 2nd round pick was the best C in the draft, and Jeff Saturday is 33.  Also, the Colts have an open spot at G so he might start from Day 1.

Their 3rd round pick is a "relentless pass rusher" according to Scouts Inc.

Their 4th round pick is a TE who ran a 4.6 - I'm sure Peyton can find a way to get him the ball.  Especially after losing Utech in the offseason.

Their 5th round pick is another pass rusher, but he actually had a 3rd round grade.

The Colts two biggest needs were DE and interior offensive line, which they addressed.  I think they had a pretty solid draft, Da Bolt Masta Bata...

People didn't like the Colts draft because there weren't any "big" names on it.  So What.  Polian is looking severaly years into the future, the center and left side of the O-line is now set for the rest of Manning's career.  They also pick up some help to fill holes elseware on the team.  I have learned not to question Polians drafting,  In the past I thought he was nuts to take Clark in the first round, as well as Joseph A.  Man was I wrong, that is why he is so good.  He said at one time, to keep giving the Colts C's on the draft report, and we will keep seeing you in the post season.  Good job Bill. 

you honestly can't say that there was a questionable pick by the Colts. they reached for nothing and picked most heavily to keep Peyton Manning healthy for years to come. I'd say that is what is most important for the draft. then adding two players in marcus howard and philip wheeler gives you two different types of pass rushes. then two 6'5" tight ends who can catch and block extremely well will only make peyton look better when using 2-tight end sets. adding a bruiser like mike hart to spell Joseph Addai is essential in this league now, as successful teams are using a 2-back system. and taking pierre garcon with the 205 pick can't be called a reach by any means, it's the 205th pick. but he actually performed much better than most other receivers at the combine by finishing in at least the top 3-8 in every drill. so why not give the colts a just above average grade?

Yeah the Pats had a terrible draft... they got two LBs that fit their scheme perfectly in Mayo and Crable.  Wheatley and Wilhite are the prototypical Pats DB that Belichick turns into an All-Pro within a year a la Asante.  We also got a raw talent at QB in O'Connell who projected higher than Henne on most radars.  A B+ for this draft is slightly low if you ask me.

Those Chargers made a great move, in my opinion, when the gave the Pats a 2nd round pick next year to draft a FB who doesn't block well.  That was great.  I can't thank you guys enough.  Hopefully we get to beat you in the playoffs again this year. 

While I hate the Colts, they had a very good draft... sorry if the Chargers, as always, get no attention paid to them.
