Ok Niner Fans, the draft is over and looking at what we received...I am very disappointed at  what we got.  Yes, we did fill some holes, but I think that we filled the holes at the wrong times.

1)  First Round - Kentwan Balmer is unproven and injury prone, and you pass up on Limas Sweed, Devin Thomas, Malcom Kelly, Phillip Merling, Pat Sims and Quentin Groves available at the 29th pick.  My suggestion at the time was to trade the pick and accumulate more picks,  but I am not the GM.

2) Second Round - Chilo Rachael - Did not have much of a problem with this pick

3) Third Round - Reggie Smith - WTF.  Could have had Early Doucet or

4) Fourth Round - Cody Wallace - No Problem here

6) Sixth Round - John Morgan - Character Issues - Do you really need a character issue guy

7) Seventh Round - Larry Grant - Finally decide to get the OLB

Can I ask if Nolan had any input in this draft???  What the Hell??  This was the worst draft under Nolan so far.

I wasn't excited by the picks either (although I love Reggie Smith at 3).  However, I need to hope that the Niners management scouted these guys and have a better idea of their NFL fit potential than do the dozens of "expert" NFL scouting sources.   Nolan has proven to be better than average at identifying talent than previous coaches (well, except of course Mr. Walsh).

I'm just disappointed that the Niners seemed to close their eyes to the "character" issue on a couple of the picks.  Balmer's work ethic was trashed by several pre-draft scouts but I have to believe that the Niners scouted this situation thoroughly before committing to picking him.  Although, I'm still not convinced that Rachal was a good pick (his character is not in question).  There was so much talent available (@ WR) that the Niners needed, I can smell a bit of desperation here because all their O-line options slipped away earlier in the draft.  Most post-draft grades give the Niners a "C" probably because their picks were boring.  I think if they selected one top ranked WR with the 2nd pick, this would have been considered a "B" grade draft.

I'm disappointed:

Rd1: Balmer is "not a pass-rush threat" but will help the guys around him?? Ok fine. The Niners didn't think he'd be there at that point the draft. Defense wins championships. Let's get a WR next round.

Rd2: Rachal?? So many good WRs on the board I thought this was the place to get one of them. I understand the O-line was thin but you know what's also thin? The WR corps!!

Rd6: Josh Morgan! Great! We finally got a WR! Here's the review: " Morgan is a developmental player who could be ticketed for the practice squad." ARGHHH!?!?!

I know 49ers know more about how to draft a team than I do but at this point I'm just throwing my arms up in the air.

This Franchise now reminds me of the the Baltimore Ravens. They said we needed a pass rushers because we were last in sacks. Do you think maybe because we never had a lead and teams would just run the ball, contribute not getting sacks? we go out and draft Def. players passing on some many W.R.  Hell we had a chance to get Brohm and Henne. We need to pray that john morgan is the next Jerry Rice and Shawn Hill is the next Montana.  Nolan is only focus on Def. he would make a great Def. cord.
What we need is a real coach. Lets hire George Seifert again. We just dont have that Superbowl attitude anymore after the last of Walsh's coaches left.  So lets fix it.
ED Debartlo owner. tell him to beat his sister and her worthless husband john.
Carmen Policy Gm. pay him enough money to come back.
George Seifert coach. Dig him out from under the rock he's been hiding.
Mike Shanhan Off. cord. after he is fired from the Broncos this year
andy reid Def cord. after he is fired from the Eagles this year.
Jon Gurden  QB coach after he is fired from the bucs this year
tell this men that the 49ers will pay them like head coaches. and give them all contracts for 5 years in that time they will build the team back to a super bowl level and will train many new coaches under them.

I think it's say to safe the men drafting the team know a little more than we do.  There was not a legit #1 WR in this draft.  There were a bunch of #2 receivers which we already have 3 on our roster.  This draft is a boring draft for the fans, but I think it was a real solid one.  bottom line is that Alex Smith needs to start playing like a #1 overall pick.  He has set this franchise back.

there are a lot of reasons why this franchise got set back, and yes Alex Smith is part of it but not the whole blame. in the draft we addressed some of the blame like the o-line. im disappointed also that we did not draft a WR , cuz that was also part of a set back. i felt we could of got everyone we have in the draft and moved back into the second to draft one of the WR.  but at the same time we did have a solid draft. we got d-line help and o-line help. the center we picked up was the number one center on mel kipers board. the DT/maybe DE was a solid pick also along with the guard and the db. it was a solid draft so dont believe the bad hype on theses guys.

After watching the entire NFL Draft I had to stop and think about each and every move the NINERS made. I have to agree with NINERBACKER that I felt disappointed. IMO this is who we could have drafted since those players were still available when were up.

!. Kenny Phillips FS - IMHO at pick 29 he was the best available player. I wasn't too happy with our FS play last season and this could have been our Ball Hawk for years to come. I'm not saying he's going to be a Ronnie Lott, but there is a strong correlation with FS from the Univ of Miami (Ed Reed and Sean Taylor just to name from the top of my head).

2. Quentin Groves DE - Watching TBC rushing the QB was like watching my front lawn grow under 100 degree heat. At this pick we would address our pass rushing need. And from most mock drafts we would have drafted him at 29 so getting him at 39 would be a Value pick as well.

3. Pat Sims DT - This would address our DLine need. Once again, most mocks had this guy going in the 2nd round. Has played against a high level of competition in the SEC so getting him here wouldn't be too bad.

4. Anthony Collins OT - I finally addressed the OLine. Losing Kwame Harris kills our depth. Getting Collins here would replace him with that. I actually seeing him being our future RT. Has the size and strength to be a capable RT.

5. DAMN YOU Bears - For the sake of it I would have drafted Owen Schmiitt FB. Moran Norris seemed to not play with
