Never said we didn't need a DT but I just didn't see the value of that pick in the 3rd Rd.  I would have been much more understanding if that was 5th or later.

Steltz has a future in the NFL

Marcus Monk is a better prospect than Earl Bennett.  We already have two possession receivers.  Why not go for a homerun hitter.  Love Devin Hester and if he can actually get on the field for 40% of the snaps I'll deal with a the Bennett pick.

Kellen Davis - again no problem with the pick but he's basically going to be a special teams player, there were still value picks at QB available.  Are we really going to go into the season with just 2 QB's?

I hope Nick Hill from Northern Illi is available because that's the only rookie free agent QB I like.

I can't believe all the crying on these boards. You people like to think you know what you're talking about, you don't. It is IMPOSSIBLE to grade a draft the day after. Prisco and the rest of these moron "experts" don't know jack. By the way, the Bears are getting A and B grades all over.

It seems that nothing makes you happy. Mendenhall on the Bears would have been a disaster. No line idiots! So they grab a LT in round 1 that will be solid for years and get a RB in round 2. Not good enough. Then they get a good WR in round 3 along with a possible round 1 talent DT. Cry again! The rest of the picks are all justified with the TE pick being the only question. Angelo is a later round drafting genius. I will not question any of his picks until 2-3 years down the line.

BubbaLupe,

I think you're wrong on Harrison.  He isn't a 3 technique, he doesn't get a lot of penetration...............hence only 2.5 sacks in college.

He is there to compliment Harris, not take over from him.

Please note the following analysis from NFL.com:

Has a thick chest, big back and wide waist and hips...More of a two-gap type who needs to play with better consistency, as he showed in the past that he is capable of defeating blocks and clogging rush lanes...Marginal pass rusher, but does have enough speed to move along and make plays at the line of scrimmage...Shows adequate quickness and agility coming out of his stance, but only when he keeps his pad level down (tends to get tall in his stance)...When he shows desire, he is effective at shooting his hands to gain separation in attempts to shed blocks (but short-arms too often, allowing double teams to wash him out)...Has the functional feet and balance to make plays outside the box (former defensive end)...When he stays low in his stance and keeps his hands inside his frame, he is able to maintain position vs. a blocker right over his head...When he does a good job in reading and recognizing the play, he is effective at getting into position to make the play (consistency is lacking)...Has better power playing the two-gap than on the move...When he keeps his hands active, he can get off blocks quicker...Good collision-type tackler with the ideal reach to latch on and drag ballcarriers down...Hits with a thud and can clog rush lanes and push the lead blocker back with his initial low step off the snap...Has limitations reading schemes up front, but when he locates the ball, he is quick to close...Does not do it often, but when he uses his hands to disengage, he is capable of creating a new line of scrimmage...Has the frame to carry more bulk without having it affect his speed...When he finds the screens, he takes good angles to close.

Harrison was brought in to play the nose.

Being a huge Colts fan and a fan of the Bears, I did notice that Harrison was ranked #2 best pick when the Colts were up for there 2nd round pick and they passed on him. Colts just lost McFarlin and I believed that the Colts for sure were gonna draft harrison to fill that spot. But.....they didnt and Polian is by far the greatest judge of character and talent when it comes to drafting so I no longer question him. He obviously didnt like what he saw in harrison and went a different way. Harrison has off field issues thats gonna hurt the team he's on. The tight end position still has me scratching my head. I dont care HOW big this guy is they just drafted Olsen in the 1st round and are paying him first round money. And signed Clark to a 2 year extension. Now not drafting a qb is the most puzzling thing in the world. But I think of it like this.....Williams is a passing line-men, you now have a 2 man backfield like you did with Jones and Benson, and Benett. So now rex has NO excuse to make this a 13-3 team. You have old asses in Booker and Lloyd, Young speedy guys in hester and now Bennett, and the best return man football has ever seen. So now's the time. But the sad part about this is the NFC central is gonna be the 3rd best division in the nfl next to AFC South and NFC east, the Bears are gonna be 9-7 at best the Lovie(who I think is a great coach) is gonna take the axe for this. And thats sad......

Crazed,

Couldn't have said it better myself!  I also like a couple of our 7th rounders (Monk, LaRocque) and definately our UDFA signings at QB!  Kiper said our draft will probably improve our team the most this year...  I think i agree with that.

Where did you play center at?  Just curious!

GO Bears!

GFY,

Well put couldnt agree more!

People just need to relax and actually see these guys play before they jump to conclusions. Not to mention the picks arent worth complaining over in the first place.

That is the reason they picked Harrison.   He isn't coming in to replace Harris (they'll get him signed), he is coming in to eat up blockers and free Harris up.  GREAT PICK.

What is the word up in Chicago as far as getting Tommie Harris signed?  I am not so sure that it is a slam dunk after the amount of money that the Raiders spent on their DT that is considered to be half of what Tommie Harris is...not to mention Tommie's agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

Tommie Harris is the number one reason why I am not upset with JA for letting BB go and for not signing a top FA for the O-line or at RB.  Did Bears fans really want to see a player signed in those areas at the rist of not being able to sign Tommie Harris and Devin Hester?  Really......

The latest offer was turned down by Tommie Harris and it did surpass Tommy Kelly's deal with the Raiders. I don't think any specifics were given into the structure of the deal or what did Harris not like. My guess is guaranteed money since that seems to always be the deal or the number of years. Bears intend on engaging in the talks again soon.
