What WR was there that they could have drafted that could have come in and had an immediate impact?? This whole argument is just a difference of opinions. Dallas is high on their young receivers, some of you guys arent. I think we need to add a veteran WR, and I think we can do that with the June 1 cuts. Very few rookie wideouts come in and actually make an immediate impact. Calling Felix Jones nothing more than a backup RB is just idiocy. Did you even watch him run in college?? He is going to get 10-15 touches a game.....how many touches would a rookie WR get?? He is also a threat in the passing game....he split into the slot at Arkansas and was great out of the backfield. He's the perfect back for what Dallas needed. I can't believe the stuff I've read on this board. Flowers better than Jenkins, are you kidding me??? Dallas had Jenkins rated as the best CB in the draft. I can't believe people are complaining about drafting a TE after trading Fasano. What did Fasano ever do?? He was never going to develope into anything, so they drafted a guy who is more athletic and can do more things.
I feel like I'm living in Idiocracy.

I agree with your overall grade of the Cowboys' draft, but disagree with the point do we really need Mike Jenkins the answer is yes. No one including Jerry Jones does not know if and when Pacman will be reinstated. Another reason is the Cowboys missed the playoffs last mainly due to their inability to stop the long ball, and they need to reevaluate everyone in their secondary if they are going to eliminate the mistakes in the secondary.

If no receivers were drafted in the first round, that should raise a red flag. I think it was an efficient draft.

I think that Cowboys have a great draft. Jenkin was a great pick up, some draft expert rated Jenkin as the best cb in the draft. As for Felix Jones we need a speedy back to go with MB3 and that is a great pick. A lots of fan on here like Mendenhall more but nobody even heard of this guy until this year. Mendenhall has 1 good year. This guy might be a one year wonders. If Felix Jones didn't play for Arkansas say he plays for maybe a school like USC this guy would be a top 10 pick. Our second round pick Bennett this dude is 6'6 260 and ran 4.6 40. He's also plays basketball for A&M. Some scout compared him to Antonio Gates. We have 10 picks atleast next year we could move up and draft the best WR or sign 1 in FA someone like Roy Williams from the Lions if they don't resign him. GREAT DRAFT A+++++

Yeah Sam because DeMarcus Ware and Greg Ellis combining for 20+ sacks last year is a horrible pass rush!.....Whatever!

"Wow, so much love for mendenhall. Dallas lost a speed back, and they drafted a speed back. Why would Dallas want a carbon copy of MBIII? "
Because their bruiser was effective last year and their speedster was not.

I never said it was horrible but Dallas did not have a consistantly dominant D. Did you watch the Giants in the playoffs? Their defensive line was as good as I've ever seen. Give credit where credit is due. They shut down Dallas, Green Bay and New England, the top 3 offenses in the league. That's impressive.

The Cowboys pass rush is just OK, we need to generate more pressure up the middle. Ratliff does a good job and Canty does a passable job, Spears the top draft pick on our line seems to get no pass rush. Outside of Ware, Ellis, Ratliff, and Hatcher we don't have much for pass rushers.

Spencer is a good pass rusher as well, but he rushes from the outside just like the majority of our top pass rushers.

Our brusier was so effective that he ran out of gas in the 2nd half of the playoff game in his first start. How could you forget that? It would help our pass rush if Nate Jones and Jackazz Reeves weren't chasing receivers from behind. The CBs ahve to give the DLine some help its a team game remeber. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and everyone who is crying about the draft just happen to have the dumbest insight and opinion possible. When you write the checks for the players than you can make the choices. Until then I say leave it up to the Best GM in the biz Jeral Jones, oil tycoon, GM/Owner, and also billionaire.

Our bruiser had 100 yards in the first half. Now picture two bruisers.
And maybe when you start writing the checks to my ISP you can choose my opinion on the subject?

Considering the stellar Dallas team of 2007, this year's draft is a huge, up-front success for Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips.
Felix Jones: This guys was the pick, period. Dallas picks up a stud relief RB + a high potential (probably the #1 or #2) return man in the process. While Julius Jones wasn't the high impact change-of-pace back we all expected in "fantasy" stats, his touches were very impactful more often than not.
Mike Jenkins: I love the decision to move up 3 picks. Why take the chance that one of the two corners worth drafting early would go before pick 28? Granted, Flowers would've likely been there, but then, I'm betting Jones would've gone for a WR, none of which were truly worth a round #1 pick.
Martellus Bennett: I really can't find a better value at this pick. At the time, I thought they might try one more CB (King maybe?), RB (Slaton?) or trade down again and pick up a backup QB. But, I think Jason Witten will make Bennett a great TE by the start of the 09 season. AND, this guy really looks like Antonio Gates, so we'll see...
The rest: Choice is a great backup RB. He will likely never blow anyone away as a multi-year starter, but I look at him like I looked at Juluis Jones: a lot of potential, with very little concern other than size. I actually have a feeling that Scandrick, a guy who many thought had 2nd-3rd round potential in early in'08, will make the team and be an excellent nickel back in the playoffs or at least by the start of '09. I'll bet Scandrick would've gone in rd 1 next year, had he stayed. Nice pick-up Jerry Jones.
I liked the Cowboy's draft. If Jones could've snuck in earlier in the 3rd to take Sweed, that would've been very cool. But, ZERO complaints here.
