Let's not forget just who it is we're dealing with at the head of the table. Cuban has little patience for failure, especially at such a high price. They tanked the finals that they had all but won, they lose in the first round to an 8-seed in Golden State (and Don Nelson, who Cuban loathes), and now are all but swept in the first round. Cuban's pride, more than the money, won't let him sit back and not make a coaching change after back to back to back playoff embarassment. I think Jeff Van Gundy would be a good fit for the team. He might improve the D and add some toughness (mental and physical) to guys like Nowitzki and Howard, who've both showed a serious lack of it in their playoff failures of the past few years.
I think if D'Antoni is out in Phoenix it will be by his own free will. I think he's about ready to move on due to not seeing eye-to-eye with the front office and Steve Kerr's determination to get the team to actually play defense. Kerr is in essence saying what I and alot of others have known for awhile now: D'Antoni's run and gun style without more focus on defense can't win against seasoned teams in the playoffs. All it's good for is a nice looking regular season winning percentage.
