Maybe it's just me, but I think it's fairly premature to write off Matt Flynn in Green Bay. Everyone in the media keeps painting the Green Bay QB picture as a two-man race, and while I agree that it would seem that Brian Brohm and Aaron Rodgers are a cut above, I think it's a mistake to count out a guy who just led his team to a national title. It's not like seventh rounders are always useless...

I'm gonna be following training camp like a hawk this year. Can't wait to see what these three guys have to show me!

I think its just you man.  I didn't quite get that pick.  Flynn was to LSU what Dilfer was to the Ravens when they won the superbowl.  Just don't mess up.

I think Flynn will be a good player, eventually. Hes just really raw. Mike Mccarthy will train him up in his famous qb camps that he runs. Rodgers and Brohm are just so much more experienced. Give Flynn 3 years in the West Coast offense on the scout team and he might become a very good qb. I still cant believe the Vikings or Bears didnt take Brohm in the second round.

Craig Nall made the GB roster and he didn't even start at LSU.  You never know who is going to take to the pro game...

Matt Flynn sucks.

Well, Matt Flynn did what #1 pick JaMarcus Russell couldn't.

He may be known as just a game manager, but if you recall the Miami game and many games last season, he makes some great throws when it matters.

Being a great QB isn't about making amazing plays all the time. It's about managing the game and playing within the game. Don't write this guy off, becuase he was written off all 4 years at LSU riding pine, but look what he did.

I agree with you dagraffman you just don't waist a pick on a guy. They must have seen something they liked out of him. You no the funny thing is Patriots fans once ripped New England for taking Tom Brady in the sixth round and now look at him. For you all to say he sucks I bet he makes more money than you are playing in the NFL. What team took you in the draft. And I know I don't play in the NFL and never will so I won't say he sucks. I might say he don't or has not played well in the NFL.

Matt Flynn won the championship at LSU, well that was LSU this is the NFL.  He will be a nice backup in a couple of years, but he doesn't have the NFL "game" like Brohm.

I'm a huge LSU fan and saw all their games last year.  And the entire season I kept screming for Flynn to get benched and put "Problem" Perilloux in the game.

Our team was so talented last year and (I'm estimating) Flynn threw like 20 TDs to 16 INTs.  I agree with the other poster that said he's like Dilfer was for the Ravens, dont screw up, only to a certain degree.  Flynn isn't half the QB Dilfer is and Dilfer sucks.  Honestly I was shocked that Flynn was even drafted.

I hope I'm wrong and wish all the best of luck for Flynn as he did lead us to our championship.  I simply don't think that expecting anything more than a consistent back up player out of him isn't realistic.

To johnboy.....

Please don't put ignorant comments like "For you all to say he sucks I bet he makes more money than you are playing in the NFL. What team took you in the draft. And I know I don't play in the NFL and never will so I won't say he sucks."  You sound like a whiney child!!  If you're 6 please get off the website.  Of course he makes more money then alot of us.  There are a lot of people who suck at what they do that make more money then I do.  It doesn't change the facts.  Ryan Leaf makes more money then me too!!!

Geez!!!

For some of the other comments, you all are right, you don't ever know what's going to happen.  He may turn out alright or get on a pregram like the Ravens (like Dilfer) and is able to control the game and end up winning some because of the talent around him, but I'm not betting on it.

To compare him to Brady is still kind of a leap even though Brady was taken in the 6th round.  Brady is alot better build for a NFL QB at 6'5 or 6'6 or whatever he is with alot better arm.

The Packers must of seen something in him to draft him, TT isn't about wasting picks.  In Mikw McCarthy you not only got a good head coach but a very good QB coach too.  He got Favre under control in his two years coaching.  I'm sure he's gunna work with both Brohm and Flynn.  Face it, both Rodgers and Brohm are injury prone so they do need another QB, they'll whip him into shape.  Look the Pack took Wynn from Florida last year when people said he wasn't that good, not motivated.  What did he do, he ran very good for the Pack till he got hurt!  So lets give Flynn a chance... ??? Wynn, Flynn...?  a coincidence?

This kid has got poise in the pocket. He's got good size. He moves a lot better than most of the Qb's in the nfl now.

The Ark. game against Mcfadden, we ended up loosing but i gotta give the guy credit because he is a fighter and he kept coming back with the pressure all on him in OT because our D couldn't stop D-Mac.

I wouldn't mind having him around on my team. He's got heart and obviously was a team first kinda guy(waited a couple a years to get his shot as a starter unlike J.d.booty guy from USC, split time with Perriloux who got kicked off the team today).

Rodgers IS the QB in Green Bay, they’re not going to give the job to a rookie.

Yes they are giving the job to a rookie cause until Rodgers completes a whole regular season game he really is still a rookie!  A three year vet? of what, what has he done?  Truth is he's taken a remarkably few snaps in a real game for a guy who is in the league for 3 years.  Brohm has played in more meaningful games in the last two years than Rodgers has!  Hell, I doubt Rodgers has even had to wash his regular season uniform yet!

I can't really say much about Matt Flynn as a QB because I've never seen him play. In fact I hadn't even heard of him until the Pack selected him, but obviously Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy see something in him. Ted Thompson is not a guy who wastes picks, and has a knack of finding tremendous value in the later rounds. To be honest I can't see Rodgers lasting the year, almost every time he replaced Favre in a regular season he came out injured, except the Dallas game last year. So I can see Brohm getting several snaps this year, and if Rodgers does go down for a couple of weeks I can see Matt Flynn getting some snaps too. He has a good head coach working with him and he is also a great QB coach, he (like Brohm, and Rodgers) has come into a great situation in GB with talented players around him to help him out.

I agree with Peedubya, Rodgers is basically a rookie with 3 regular season games under his belt, he isn't a 'veteran' he is a 3rd year player with no decent experience. So no matter who starts under center it will be a rookie.
