I've heard a lot of talk about the Titans making a move for Chad Johnson, Roy Williams, Anquan Boldin, etc. I don't buy any of it. Even if we did try to get one, would they want to come here? Just because we have seemed to commit to a running game doesn't mean we should give up on getting a stud WR, but we probably will. Will the Titans get a stud WR for 2008?

I don't believe Chad would ever want to play in Nashville and Roy would probably sell icies on the beach other than play for Detroit. I was hoping for Boldin and think he would have been a good fit but the reality is, The Titans don't seem to invest any significant money in WR's or anyone for that matter who is not a staple in the organization (i.e Eddie, Steve, Bulluck, etc).
We haven't even done the deals for Bironas, Haynesworth, Stewart, etc. I love this team but is embarrassing. There are a lot of young WR's to sift though on the roster already (I have hope for Ealy-I think he wants to make the most of his shot) and I hope they will come up with a core that will make the difference. I believe the talent is there this is known for being a team without "big name" receivers even when we were kicking the dirt out of teams with McCareins and Mason. They were reliable and didn't require makeup and powder during their locker room interviews. They just played the game.

I like Ealy as well, I really could see him as a good WR. I don't really like Davis though. Who knows if maybe one of these WRs will break out somehow? Biren Ealy, Paul Williams, Mike Williams, Roydell Williams, Chris Davis, Justin Gage, McCareins, Brandon Jones (who btw Chow didn't really like anyway), or Lavelle "Hawk" Hawkins? We have a lot of names so we need to take the time and sift through them and really work on development as it seems we won't pick up a big name.
Biren Ealy - I like this guy and hope he becomes great, Paul Williams we really didn't see but who knows what he was doing or how good he will be. Like I said we didn't see him so he could be this years surprise. Mike Williams is losing weight and I hear he looks really good. Roydell Williams is ok, hopefully he can find his stride this year. Chris Davis, not sure on him. I really can't say a lot. Justin Gage is a sure thing. He isn't explosive but he is reliable. McCareins may pick up what he once had here in Tennessee but only time can tell. Brandon Jones is in the system of a new OC so thats a plus and he was injured last year. If he works on his hands he may have a good year. Lavelle Hawkins was reliable in college but just didn't see the spotlight because Jackson was the shining star. Lavelle IMO will be another reliable option to Vince Young.
I of course only look on the positives cause if you focus on the negatives, none of these guys will be any good. I believe there is #1 talent SOMEWHERE in there so I'm hoping somebody has been working crazy hard this offseason and let's hope come preseason, someone wows us.

Chad would play any where as long as they were committed to winning, Roy i think would love to play with Vince again, and Anquan...i have no idea....i just think he demanded a trade to get a new contract. i dont think he really wants to leave....
i think we do need a #1 receiver and i think giveing up our 1st or 2nd rounder for next years draft would get Roy and next years draft isnt looking to good anyways so why not get someone that we need who has alot of talent....
i would love to see Roy Williams #1, Justin Gage #2, and Lavelle Hawkins as our slot, but Roydell being the #3,
i think the fact that we have so many receivers is great....we have a bunch of guys who are the same caliber so when we take one out and give him a rest we have a guy filling in who is exactly the same and i think that is a bonus cause late in the game our receivers will have had their rest and be fresh and will be able to get free from the tiring CBs
right now i have us second in our division behind Jax, and the Colts third....if we get one of those three receivers in a trade i will have us to be the fav to win our division and will be in the playoffs win homefield advantage in the first round...meaning i think we wont be a wildcard

I really, really, really wanted a WR. I mean when your biggest need is WR and you are picking in the 20s in the draft and no WR goes before you I think it is a no brainer pick. Appraently not....
However I think that the "sleeper" this year will be Alge Crumpler because with Vince Young's style at QB the TE is usually the most important position and Crumpler may be just what they need. I also liked what I saw from Roydell Williams and Justin Gage last year and think they will get better. And then there is Bo Scaife.
Add that to a nasty D, good O Line and solid running game and you got a shot at the playoffs.

I agree on Alge. I also have to believe the Titans were going to pick Limas Sweed if he wasn't selected by the Steelers just 1 pick before. I knew they weren't going to touch anyone with a questionable past but I thought they would go for him... there was no trade up so we finished where we did.
I was fired up with how fierce the defense played last year-smothering. I was disappointed to see Odom moreso than LaBoy. They both were effective, but overall, Odom was disruptive and made a difference. I am thrilled Jevon is back but they must pick up where they left off on "D"...the moment has to be seized every single year because the components will always change to a degree. The purse strings have always been tight in TN and after 2 years, I believe Reinfieldt is from the same school of thought as Bud. As a franchise, they were shell-shocked after the big salary cap issue of a few years back, and certainly after that individual that just left via trade to Dallas. To that extent, with the exception of a few marquee players, they will always be working within certain parameters which my leave us signing young talent and purging just before they are due the big deal.

I would love to see a big time WR in Tennessee but I doubt it's gonna happen! But I'm all about having a great Defense! From what I hear Lito Sheppard is trying to get out of Philly! He's only 27 and he's a 2 time pro bowler. Him and the Court plus Harper!! That would be sweet!!!!
