Why doesnt bobby give a couple of guys from Richmond a shot at a spot in the rotation. Jo-Jo Reyes is pitching awesome down there and Charlie Morton is also. It cant hurt anything and if anything they will probably help us out. Even Buddy Carlyle, He is doing a decent job for us right now. I just dont see the point in giving Jeff Bennett any more opps when he has been giving plenty and cant prove anything.

I do believe Jo Jo is slated to pitch this weekend vs the Reds.  I know he has impressive numbers in Richmond, however I can't help but hold my breath when I see him on the mound.  Hopefully he pulls through this time though and really shines like the diamond we all believe he is.

i actually disagree with you gadawg, ive been pretty impressed with bennett in his spot starts this year, he in three starts hes pitched 14.2 innings with in era just over 3.00 (3.08 to be exact). he hasnt done that well pitching out of the pen this year, but i just dont think that hes meant to be a reliever.  But yeah bc10 is right, jo jo is going on saturday and im praying he can build on what he's done at richmond.

Yep Jo Jo will be up this weekend and pitch on Saturday. He has been really impressive in Richmond and I cannot wait to see him on the mound. Remember everyone, even Glavine struggled in his first two years in the bigs. Jo Jo will be fine because I have seen the desire in him to learn the art of pitching. Also with Tommy back on the club he can do nothing but help Jo Jo.

Also history has shown that the Braves under Bobby Cox don't pull many players from Richmond. He has historically gone to the players in AA(Greenville and Mississippi to fill in at times.

Give Jo Jo Reyes some time and he will be a productive pitcher in the majors

Braves Fans, Atlanta or Richmond, I was in Durham Wednesday.  The Bulls were lucky to win that one, 5 singles and two lazy doubles produced 2 runs for Durham.

Righthander, 25 year old Mitch Talbot was "on".  He's past due for a good game.  Brandon Jones is a player that the Braves can soon count on.  Mike Hampton needs to stop eating so much fried food!  Chuck James, though a bit wild, has stuff.

Not to worry.  Our Braves, and my Rays, will be fine!

Bobby Cox doesn't make the decisions to bring players up from the minors.
The Gm does that.
Bobby Cox is the field manager.
He manages the players on his team
Atlanta
not Richmond, or Rome, or the other minor affiliates.

He does have a say on what goes on with the club
 and makes suggestions.

Some think that the head coach or manager
makes all the player moves.
With some pro sports franchises,
this is true.
However,
most coaches and managers just have the authority to  manage or coach the players on that particular club.

I hope this clears things up.

Go Braves 08!!!

nuthin posts the truth!  Bobby Cox and maybe a coach might have a bit of input as to what Atlanta Braves player goes down to the class AAA International League Richmond Braves or to the Class AA Southern League Mississippi Braves and possibly, which player comes up to "The Show".  The only reason for this is due to working with various players during Spring Training.

Being a multi-team fan [be nice!], I think that the reason that The Tampa Bay Rays are looking better this year is because of their new GM, Andrew Friedman.  This guy knows The Game and he knows his players.  Ain't Baseball fun?!

Its still just May 2nd, thats what the forty man roster is for.  Desperate times, equals desperate measures,  Its not that yet, we gotta give these boys some time first, but no doubt or prospects will be getting time real soon.

Even more truisms come from the post of Catchers Dad!  This makes the statement: Ain't Baseball fun?, all the more relevant.  Thanks, C.D.  Go Braves.  All season!

I have thought about this as well, and looking through the minor league depth chart it seems that we have some decently strong pitching prospects.  However, I actually like Jeff Bennett I think he shows a lot of potential, and the last thing I want to do is pull another Joey Devine have a great young guy come up a tad bit to early get slammed in a start/relief apperence and then never be the same pitcher again...  So I just put my faith in the fact that John Schurholtz is still the President of the team and that man is a Baseball God.
