As far as this infighting with Colt Brennan, comparing the Georgia game is silly, but how about this, look at his statistics against Alabama, Boise State, Purdue, Oregon St, Arizona St, Washington, Wisconsin, USC he did okay in a blowout, and Michigan St.  Since he began his career in hawaii he has been more than good against top tier Conferences.  If you all want to cherry pick, look at the entire tree.

Suspect arm????? WCO???? Joe Montana kinda had both in his graces.  No need to listen to the "experts" too much, Brennan may or may not be any good, 6th round is better than an early 2nd like Patrick Ramsey.

Fred Davis, this kid was named the best TE in the country, he held USC, the NFLs 33rd team together with his performances last year.  Cooley, you know full well, does not line up as a TE 100% of the time, this kid, when in the lineup, will be productive and will be a better blocker than Cooley.  Not to mention, he could see time as FB in jumbo packages and short yardage and I would also bet will be a stalwart STer.

Starter is just a title in a specialized system like the NFL and especially WCO.  BTW, Barber was in less than 60% of the Dallas plays.  Andre Woodson, seen in person was a joke, but if you like him, root for the Giants.  Lorenzen was highly regarded as well.

You all know drafts are what they are, luck of the draw nearly 75% of the players.  You, me, the teams, the players, all have no idea what they will do when they start their NFL career.  We have no idea if they get hurt, they loose the love of the game, the edge, do they have the mentality?  No need to gripe about what was done.  Not until we see what happens in a few hot months.

You do know Durant Brooks is friendly with Ray Guy?  You do know Guy will help the kid grow into a powerful punter?  You do know a punter is a weapon?  I would rather see this kid get drafted than let someone else who may have had him on their radar pick him.  Do you not think the Redskins knew there were other teams drooling for this kid?

thatlsk,

You have to be kidding me Manning and Brady had bad games?  No.  There OLine was destroyed by the opposing Defense.  Exactly what happened to Hawaii.  Colt is one of the most accurate passers to come out of college EVER.  Guess what the WCO relies on ACCURACY.  Its a good flier on a kid, nothing special just a good shot on a SIXTH ROUND PICK, something like 75% of 6th rounders never see an NFL field anyway.  Now if we'd picked him in round two or three I'd be yelling louder than you.   I'm not trying to "sway" you you obviously have a bias for yet another over hyped Kentucky QB.  Do you have any idea how many succesful NFL QB's have that supposed 3/4 delivery? Know how many have a slow release?  Just like others have said Montana and Jeff Garcia were both said to be undersized and not enough arm strength.  Montana definded the WCO QB and Garcia was one the the most accurate to ever play in SF.  But like the other two said this is ridiculous to argue about a 6th round developmental guy.  This isn't who we're building are team around.

On to your "starters".  Campbell is a 3-4 DE. I already have said that but I'll say it again since it didn't set in the first time.  Go do a little research Groves is a 'tweener he'll play OLB in the NFL and Jones while talented is most likely a Sam LB and is very, very raw.  Far from a "starter" at this point.

So again you have read scouting reports and think you understand talentyet you have no understanding of how that talent fits into a system.  We didn't pick a DE high because other than Harvey there wasn't a true pass rushing DE worthy of a high pick!

Rather than keep going back and forth with this stupid argument, I'll just end it and we'll see in a few months and over the next couple of seasons who was right and wrong with these picks.

I still stand by my points that many of the picks were questionable, if you like them good for you, I just don't see the justification in many of the picks.

But we'll see what happens on the field.

To be honest end of the day I hope I'm wrong and all the players turn out great for the team because it will mean the Redskins will win some games.

It's just that I refuse to say this was a good draft when I just don't see  that it was, I can't say something is good when it's obviously not and this draft has question marks all through it.

I do have to point out one thing about Fred Davis to those who say he could play fullback, that would work if the guy was actually a good blocker which everybody knows he isn't. Excellent pass catching, poor blocker, but whatever what's done is done and the picks can't be taken back so we'll see what happens.

I do think that the Fred Davis pick was a bit of a waste.  As in any draft, there are positives and negatives to everything.

It is however hard to argue that the Redskins have been lacking youth and size at wide receiver.  We got both in Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly.  Many may argue and say that Anthony Mix wasn't given a fair shot.  However, Mix has been long enough to make coaches not feel comfortable with him.  That leaves the team with Santana Moss and Antwan Randel El...both 30 and injury problems.  Then there is James Thrash who is in his mid 30's.  So where is the size and depth at?  Perhaps drafting two wide receivers so close was not the smartest move, but we did need to obtain more than one.  And you can't argue that we have two solid receivers.

Our offense has been the teams achillis (sp?) heal for sometime now.  We have all but one starter slated to start on defense.  You add that with more experience under LaRon Landry and Reed Doughty's belt, Chris Wilson coming on strong, and there is no reason why the defense should not be top ten like last year. Therefore, the front office addressed the biggest concern, OFFENSE!!!

Its going to take time for Jason Campbell to further develop with a new system and new receivers.  Why not start right away than waiting another year to address the offense.

It is hard to know how good our draft was or will be. I would have liked very much for us to have been able to get a good DE. I posted on here many times that I liked Philip Meling and Kendall Langford. We did not get either one and that is the way a draft works. I was not to impressed with any other DE in this draft. What we did get was two good WR in Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly. Why take two WR? I think the answer is simple, many top WR prospects never develop at the next level. We can second guess the choices however I think that the Redskins have insurance that at least on tall WR is going to make it.

Now why did we draft a TE? Chris Cooley is a Pro Bowl TE. Then who do we have? Todd Yoder, he caught 7 passes last year and he is not young. So we draft the best TE in the draft and get Fred Davis. Now we have another TE to at leat back up Cooley. What if Cooley got hurt? No depth at TE with out Davis.

Taking a punter in the sixth may be a stroke of pure genious if the kid is as good as they say. If he solves the punting problems for the next 10 years plus. Not to many sixth round picks make it that long. Time will tell.

I agree that we did not do much in the draft for the defense, however we did a lot to improve the offense in my opinion. Maybe next year we ignore the offense and look to improve the defense via the draft. Wow we are building a team with youth. There was no way we could fill every hope and add depth to the OL and DL even with all the picks we had. For now we have to let it ride and see where this takes us.

I know that I am very optimistic for the comming season as I have been every year since I can remember. The Redskins have improved via the draft this year and it is a new way of building a team then we are use to. In the draft you don't always get what you want.

Hail to the Redskins!!

To expand on what you said Ke101, why not  focus on just the offense this year?  The defense has been solid for us.  If we went offense here, defense there, we would have still seen the team behind.  They simply went straight offense which was our weakest side of the ball for many many years.  That way they can address specifically the defense which doesn't take as long, if at all, as the offense to develop next year.

I too think that the punter in the sixth round was extremely smart.  Not many sixth round picks can make an immediate impact or even be a starter.  A strong legged punter can, like you said, hold down that position for as much as 15 years.
