I think Freeman has his leagues mixed up. I think, if anything, NCAA basketball will take over. There are stars, there is PASSION, there are rivalries, etc.

My brother watched parts of several NBA games with me and said to me last Sunday "That's the first miss I've seen in an NBA game". No defense, the only effort given is on an isolation play where someone takes it to the hoop.

Fundamentals are so much better in NCAA too... How many pros go for offensive rebounds? How many fight to grab offensive boards on missed free throws? etc.

no surprise about that..I think you were watching the Nuggets (who don't even play defense) since they were on ABC last Sunday..Too bad, because there are plenty of NBA teams who play SHUTDOWN defense out there. But I am getting tired to talk to people who don't know crap about the NBA, yet they feel knowledgable enough to talk about it..that's mind-boggling to me but I disgress.

also, there are rivalries also in the NBA (Suns-Spurs anyone? Celtics-Pistons? Cavs-Pistons? And I could go on and on)..and there's PASSION..Because you can't tell me that players like Kobe, Garnett, Howard, Paul, James etc. etc. don't have passion. But whatever. Talking to NBA haters is just a waste of time. They see what they want to see.

I also believe NCAA Basketball is a superior sport to the NBA. The crowds are unsurpassed and add a element the NBA only can dream they have. The players show raw emotion that overpaid NBA players (Stephon Marbury) don't show or even care about. Win or lose they know they are going to get paid. The coaches are more recognizable like Coach K Roy Williams Jim Beoheim Rick Pitino. John Thompson Jim Calhoun Ben Howland. The Playoff is the best in all of sports PERIOD March Madness has no equal nor will it in the near future.

Bottom Line NCAA Basketball is Superior to the NBA

Crimson1, you are clueless. You are saying that the crowds in the NCAA are unsurpassed. Well, that's a LIE. Watch the NBA playoffs and you'll see how great the crowds are. I am watching a lot of NBA playoffs games and the crowds are GREAT. Fans wear the same t-shirt (pretty much like college) and the arenas are LOUD..I was especially impressed with fans in Cleveland, New Orleans, San Antonio etc..not to mention Detroit. So what you are saying about the crowds is just RETARDED. I bet that you didn't watch one single second of the NBA playoffs. If you did, you would be surprised with how great the crowds are..

And don't even dare to tell me players don't have emotions and aren't passionate. Those are just stereotypes. Just because they don't give it all in every single regular season game (and that's because it's UMANLY IMPOSSIBLE to give it all for 82 games) it doesn't mean they aren't passionate (and it's a JOKE the fact you brough up Marbury and IGNORED the hundreds of players who really love the game): If maybe you watched the NBA playoffs, you would notice how passionate players are. They are giving it all in these playoffs games and you can clearly see they WANT to win. If you don't think so is just because you aren't paying attention, exactly like every other asinine NBA hater.

Oh btw, you accuse NBA players saying they aren't passionate, yet you seem to forget that most of those same players you are talking about are the same players you used to cheer for in college.

Clearly, you don't know crap about basketball

"Fundamentals are so much better in NCAA too..."

You are a clueless nitwit. How about commenting on a sport you actually watched and not depending on your brother. Judge for yourself and form your own opinions.

Sure he does.  In fact the crap to which you speak is a regular season product that is inferior because they have to play WAY too many games.  You said so yourself.  We cheered for them in college because they didn't dog it during the regular season.  The NBA needs to reduce the regular season by at least 20 games, and reduce the first and second round of the playoffs to best of 5.

I am laughing.  He probably thinks Ron Paul or Ralph Nader will be our next president too.

In case anyone returns to this thread, i'll make a stand.

NBAsuperfan says the NBA is better because they play hard in the playoffs. NCAA athletes play hard during the regular season. I think it's unmanly to not give your all until the playoffs.

Passion. I watched Adam Morrison crumple on the floor after realizing the Bobcats weren't going to make the playoffs.

To put it simply: I cheer hard for college players because the all-about-money part of the NBA ruins it.
