What a disappointment, to beat Boston all 3 times on your homecourt and no where else is inexcusable. They have to work on the road game for next year to have a chance. Most people never pegged the Hawks to do anything in the playoffs, and they showed us why.

Are you serious?
Taking nothing away from atlanta becuase they have far exceeded expectation. Boston are a better team than atlanta - by a country mile! atlanta were able to win at  home BECAUSE it was at home. the crowd at phillips arena have been fantastic and your comment just takes away from how important a role they have played. considering the position they have been in before this season was terrible and they have made significant progress. unless a team inherits a Tim Duncan or Kevin Garnett, it is impossible to progress from cellar-dweller to championship contender overnight.
Well done atlanta, you have proved its possible to stop that big green machine

yeah how was this embarrassing?  No one even expected them to be in this position and not many expected them to win today.

I disagree. This was a great experience for the Hawks. A playoff series against  the # 1 seeded team in their conference, and they took them to 7 games. A young team is only gonna get better from this series. They have a lot of things they can build on. Joe Johnson is becoming a beast. And give Al Horford 2-3 more years and he'll be an All Star.

I wouldn't be so down. The future looks really good in Atlanta. They need to add an inside presence. Zaza Pachulia is not gonna cut it at the NBA level.

i totally agree. the Hawks really showed something this series. they should continue to improve and will be a force in the east within a few seasons so long as they keep this group together. the hawks are young at every starting position (Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams, Joe Smith, Al Horford) except point guard (Mike Bibby). and bibby is only 30 years old and has a lot of playoff experience from his days with the sacramento Kings.

i actually have been analogizing these hawks to teams like the diamondbacks and rays, young and very talented.

this series should have given hawks fans lots to look forward to.  it's one thing to be young and talented, but these guys have shown that they are also hungry.

kudos to the atlanta hawks.

Reread the summation of your post and find the contradiction.

Couldn't the same thing be said of Boston. The Celtics couldn't win in ATL. Isn't that a greater disappointment? I mean, Boston is the better team. Best record in the NBA vs. the worst season mark to make the playoffs...and it takes seven games!?!?!?

Come on now. Hawks are not a disappointment.

Wouldn't it have made more of a statement that the Hawks were ready to go if they at least took one at the Garden? That they could only win at home shows what an advantage that is. And when you're deep in the playoffs, winning on the road is everything. That is unless of course, you're a super-elite team and just sweep every time... But that's a different topic.

Hawks are a disappointment because while playing in a lackluster east, they won ENOUGH to grant them a #8 berth, started playing aggressive and finding their own at home, and then laid a complete egg when it mattered the most.

I'm not saying the Hawks shouldn't be credited for making it to 7, I'm saying they deserved better than the way they played, and they have plenty to work on for 08/09.

They should be embarrassed. The didn't even show up for game 7. They played with no intensity or hustle. They basically quit.
