Appears Coach Crean has picked up another 2009 committment.  6'5" G Maurice Creek from Temple Hills, MD via South Kent Prep in CT.  He is a 4 Star recruit by Rivals.com ranked #63 overall player in the 2009 class.

I just hope he can pick up a couple more players for next year... Verdell Jones is supposed to make his announcement tomorrow, but it looks like it's going to be Minnesota.  Hopefully, Maurice Sutton will end up in Bloomington.

Great post Undue - I saw this story in the Star and wanted to get it out there, as well.  This team and this coach needs some good news and this certainly fits that category!  Okay, so this kid is not a five star-top, ten recruit, but he has certainly drawn national attention and is capable of playing and contributing at the next level.  Also, most importantly, with the program in its current state of disarray, we can be certain that this kids want to play basketball for Tom Crean at Indiana.  He's bringing heart, intensity and talent that wants nothing more than to contribute on the basketball floor.  That's good news.

It's great to see Crean and Seltzer pick up another Top 100 recruit. I as well hope we can get at least one more "standout" recruit for next season, but it sounds like Crean already knows it's going to be a challenge. I really think that Seltzer is going to be a great Assistant and a very powerful figure on the recruiting trail. Players seem to really like him and are able to relate which is half the battle.

Verdell Jones' announcement has been 'imminent' for two hours. Scout.com doesn't have anything, or the H-T blog. He would help us out, but Maurice Sutton would be even better. If I were him, I'd look at Indiana and see a place where they're nuts about basketball and need inside players, so I could start or play a lot right away. That has to be appealing. But what do I know??

We're going to have to be patient next year, I think. I don't see us being all that good, but having lots of freshmen and sophomores playing key roles pays off down the line, and Crean's got good recruits committed for '09. So I think things are looking up, albeit in the medium term, rather than short term, outlook.
