I hear all the time "the Eagles don't have a true #1 wide receiver". I guess that's true, they don't have a guy like Terrell Owens or Randy Moss, or one of the big name guys.
I was just wondering, who are the true #1 wide receivers? Can anybody name them? Some are obvious, some are not. What other teams don't have a #1 wide receiver?
Here goes a list of the wide receivers that got the most yards last year - Can somebody pick out which ones are "True #1 Wide Receivers", just so I know.

I'm guessing there are a lot of different opinions.

for the Steelers, Hines Ward is the true #1 on that team. I know holmes had more yards this year but he is the long ball threat. But when ever a ball has to be completed it goes to Hines Ward 90% of the time. He is clutch. In about a year or 2 it will be holmes or sweed as the #1, but right now it is ward.

Every team has a #1 wr. Some teams #1 however would be other teams #2 or #3.
Put Kevin Curtis on another team and he becomes a #2 or 3, Roddy White might be #3 or even #4 on some teams
TJ Hous and Wes Welker would go from #2 to a #1 on a lot of teams

Yeah, Hines Ward was hurt a little last year, but Hines has been great for many years. Plus Hines does so much without the ball. I can see calling him a #1 WR.

So you would call those two guys "True #1 WR's"? Just curious, I'm not saying you are wrong...

These two aren't #1 on other teams, they're both classic 2's, they benefit from playing n the other side of two #1 in Chad Johnson and Randy Moss.
The only reason Welker can put up stats like he put up was because Randy moss commands double and triple teams and it leaves Welker matched one on one with either a linebacker or a nickel back and then he can beat that player easily. Against top corners of the league Wes Welker gets shut down.
TJ is better than Welker but he's no number one, he gets a lot of favorable match-ups because he's on the other side of Chad who gets doubled a lot.

A true #1 receiver is a guy who can go out there and produce under any circumstances. It shouldn't take a star QB or any other decent receivers on the team to take pressure off them.
For that reason, I'd say Moss, T.O, Chad Johnson, Andre Johnson, Fitzgerald, Roy Williams, Braylon Edwards, Torry Holt, Plax, Steve Smith, and probably Reggie Wayne all fit the bill.
Guys who are on the edge: Brandon Marshall, Roddy White, Boldin.
Guys who probably will be some day: Dwayne Bowe, Greg Jennings, Calvin Johnson.
Has-beens: Marvin Harrison, Isaac Bruce.
No disrespect meant towards Colston and Housh, but I think they're more a product of their quarterbacks. And in Housh's case, having playing across from Chad Johnson.
