The 8 game streak was the longest current active. It was no Houston Rocket's streak, but it was a start. I think the toughest thing to do as a collective unit is to go back out there the next game and start another one, rather than let one loss completely kill your buzz.

Props to the Rockies for starting the week on a good note, their young infield options are looking impressive. Now if they can just hire a club scientist to make clones of Aaron Cook, hello WS.

Is it just me, or did this streak (as Rehban points out was the longest thus far this season) not get as much attention as it deserved?
I may have just missed its attention, as I am stuck living in Boston right now, but I am convinced that had the Red Sox or Yankees put together 8 in a row over the last two weeks, we wouldn't have heard the end of it from ESPN/CBS/etc etc.

Perhaps I'm just too sensitive to the East Coast bias in the media, but the Dodgers deserve respect for 8 in a row (even if they only gained 1 or 2 games on Arizona as a result of it).

I think you raise a really valid point for discussion. In my opinion, it has to be accepted that AL East teams do in fact garner more attention in the public eye, just because of the market they have a stranglehold on, as well the profits. I'm not saying Los Angeles isn't in the public eye, but the Dodgers have been flying under the radar for several years due to either dumb GM mistakes, poor (or lack of) playoff performance, etc. I don't think it will get better before it gets worse, but it's important to notice these things.

I think that it's not really a novel argument to say there is an AL East (and really NYY/BOS) bias. I have just become slightly more sensitive to it having now lived on both coasts (and noticing that most national media outlets don't give a fair shake to most other regions). I have also lived in Maryland, in the heart of Oriole country, yet the focus on the Sox/Yankees was still noticeable. You are correct though, that it is probably not on its way to getting better.
I'll just have to content myself knowing that I'm moving back to LA in 3 weeks - and I'll get all the local Dodgers coverage I can handle.  :)
And back to much more important matters than media coverage -- let's start a new streak against the Mets tonight!
