I know that there are a lot of Jr. fans out there, and he is the most popular driver, year after year. I just don't get why he has so many fans. Please don't take this as a post trying to incite anything. I'm just curious. So why are you a Jr. fan?

If you had to pick 1 Nascar personality to go and just hang out with, who would it be? For me it would be Jr, I think it would be very cool to go out and have a beer with Jr, thats why I am a fan, he is just a cool guy.

LOL GVILLE... I don't really like his rockstar attitude, I feel it disrespects his fathers legacy, but too each his own
Cheers!

I was a Senior fan and my plans were when he retired I would pull for his son when they both were racing I pulled for Senior. Junior is way different from his dad in skills and attitude he is a good driver and he is usually calm. I dont know what I would have done if Kerry would have made it in Nascar

The most obvious reason, I think for the most part , people are fans because he is Dale Earnhardt Jr. I, like the hundreds of thousands of senior fans were die hard fans and when his son started racing it gave those fans and myself somene else to root for. He was obviously talented, more so than Kerry and he proved it by winning 2 Bush championships against some pretty decent competition like Matt Kenseth. Another reason is he's likeable, he has an engaging personality like no others in NASCAR. Racing used to be about charcters that were fun and just loved racing for the excitement of it all, now it seems like a bunch of robots when they get interviewed, especially the good ones like Johnson and Gordon, boring. Now he's running a chamionship type season and is proving to the world that he was in a bad situation at DEI and when put in a good enviroment he can compete.
Ask yourself this, of all current NACAR drivers who would you like to hang out with? Be friends with? Party with? For me it's Jr.

Now I got it. I'm supposed to join JR's nation because he would be great to go out with and tip back a few brewskies. How do you know this? Do you have inside information into his private life? And what in h*ll does being a fan of a good party guy have to do with being a fan of a NASCAR--DRIVER?

Isn't the point of having a favorite driver, player, etc that you get to create your own conditions for who that is? I was a Bill Elliott fan for years because he was just really cool and down to earth and the nicest guy you could ever meet. My wife likes Kasey Kahne because she thinks he's cute. I like Jr because of his personality. Those were the conditions for us. If the condition for you is someone to win every week than we can all call you a frontrunner and pick on you that you are not a real fan, would that be fair?

Let me start this off by stating I go against the grain as I root for Juan Pablo Montoya and now Kyle Busch, but ...
I know that there are a lot of Jr. haters out there. But despite Jr being the most popular driver, year after year, I just don't get why he has so many haters. Please don't take this as a post trying to incite anything. I'm just curious. So why are you a Jr. Hater?

kinik - Do I have private information into his private life, no, that's the the part he doesn't keep private. It's pretty evident he likes to have fun with the alcoholic beverages, he doesn't make that private, and I think the fans appreciate the fact he's more like them than most other DRIVERS. You asked "what in hell does being a fan of a good party guy have to do with being a fan of NASCAR"? Because he performs on the track and can still prove he's not a NASCAR robot and go out and have a good time, like the characters that used to dominate NASCAR. His dad was known to be pretty radical at times and didn't shy away from partying, the difference is Sr. was married and Junior choses to say single. Bottom line is he's been one of the most consistent DRIVERS this year and with his "rock star" life he has been able to stay focused on the task at hand, and right now it's getting into the chase. Whether he would of won or not in Richmond he would of at least finished in the top 3 and if Bush hadn't of mysteriously turned his wheels drastically to the right he and Bush would have fought for the win, but he wasn't given the opportunity was he ? So yes, the fact he is a free spirit and a very good DRIVER it's easy for fans to wish they could hang with him.
