This guy is a thug.  I'll take our pick (GB's Jordy Nelson) over Mario Manningham every day of the week.  May not pay be obvious this season, but will be in the long run...

A 6 score on the wonderlic test is amazing considering 18 is average among everyday people.  He may be ok but almost as dumb as a rock.

Man, How fast do we all forget David Terrell. He was supposed to be all great and wonderful too. HUUUUGE Bust. Something about WRs from Michigan.

I don't like how certain positions from certain schools are automatically labeled busts. Like after Ron Dayne, no one wanted an RB from Wisconsin anymore because of the huge drop off from college to the pros. Mario Manningham is a great player, but I have trouble seeing him as a real impact player as a Giant. Not only are there the character issues floating around, but i don't like his size or skill set for the Giants. They have Plaxico Burress who is a giant, and then they have Steve Smith who got injured last year after playing pretty well early on. Manningham has plenty going for him, but I don't feel like he has the skills to be a #1 guy or even a #2 guy. I don't know, I just don't get the "impact player" feel from him....

Devin Thomas is an interesting player because of his blow up last season. Coming out of junior college, not playing much and then putting up insane numbers is impressive. Sure he needs to improve upon some things but I feel like he has the kind of size and ability to be really good, especially alongside burners like Santana Moss. A lineup with Moss, Thomas, Cooley and Portis creates a lot of matchup concerns given the deep threat potential of the group, along with size and hands they all bring to the table. I cannot wait for Jason Campbell to put up big numbers in the style of offense that SHOULD have put him in the national championship...

Manningham will have a hard time getting on the field.  Smith came along nicely at the end of the year and may be the starter over Toomer by mid-season.  Toomer will remain the #3 because Manning has confidence in him.  Manningham is going to have to work to jump ahead of Moss and Tyree on the depth chart.  The 6th WR doesn't usually see a lot of time.

Lying about failed drug test, his low Wonderlic scores, and the fact that he played across from another high-round draft pick (Arrington) with a top QB caused him to drop.  Devin Thomas has better 40 times plus a better senior season - he has a much higher upside.  Manningham won't see the field until Toomer retires and he proves to be a better No. 3 received than Steve Smith, who would be a starter on most teams.
