Here are the teams with their new coaches for next season:

Mavericks: Rick Carlisle

Knicks: Mark Jackson

Bulls: Mike D'Antoni (if fired by Suns)

Suns (if D'Antoni is fired): Jeff Van Gundy; a defensive minded coach that can help this team.

Avery Johnson would do good for the Suns.  Maybe even give Patrick Ewing a shot.

I'm crossing my fingers for the the Hawks to either get Van Gundy or D'Antoni.

Don't pencil in Mark Jackson as the Knicks coach just yet.  If I was the Knicks, I would think long and hard about D'Antoni of the Suns and Avery Johnson of the Mavericks first.  Jackson has no coaching experience and though that is not number one in my book of concerns (all great coaches had to start somewhere), Johnson and D'Antoni are just too good to pass on without even thinking about it.  In the end, you might be right, but the other two need serious consideration.  I wish that the Knicks could keep a coach.  I am sooooooo jealous of the Jazz and Jerry Sloan.

if i were in charge of the Knicks, i wouldnt even consider D'Antoni.  He is a 100% offensive minded coach and the knicks desperatly need a coach who will make them work harder on the defensive end of the floor, and as we saw in pheonix, D'Antoni isn't that guy.  Avery Johnson isn't a bad defensive guy so i think he'd be a better fit in NY than D'Antoni.

I am a Bulls fan and I  don't like any of the coaches available. The Bulls are a young team and are very dysfunctional, they need someone with MORE experience and a reputation to control these players. Someone like larry brown would have been perfect but mj swooped him up quickly, so i was thinking of Del Harris, Lenny Wilkins, chuck daly. if they still have the desire to coach. it would be a good fit for the bulls.

One rumour I heard has Toronto allowing the Knicks to speak to Sam Mitchell, who they apparently love that he doesn't take crap from his players and would be a good fit in New York.  Then we see Brian Colangelo hooking back up with his friend from his Phoenix days Mike D'Antoni, and bringing him in to be the new coach of the Toronto Raptors.

However Colangelo has gone on record as saying that Mitchell is his guy. Plus Mitchell still has a lot of money coming his way from his current contract.
