a gun is a gun. unless were talking about an AK-47 or an RPG.
yea, the gun harrison had can kill people, just like every other handgun owned by way too many us citizens.
i couldnt care less what KIND of gun the guy has. would the story be any better if it had been a normal glock?

I'd rather a thug (not calling Harrison a thug, just saying as reference) carry a Glock. Most Kevlar vests stop a round from a Glock from a distance, and thus, the people who protect us are safe (cops and the military).
When you've got a gun that shoots through body armor, that gets cops killed. When cops get killed, a lot more innocent people get killed.

saying a gun is a gun is saying a quarter-back is a quarter-back, and compared to an AK-47 this gun in question is a lot meaner, and RPG wouldn't quite qualify for a gun.. the type of gun in question is very rare, very powerful and has a very specific goal- to penetrate body armor... besides cops, military, and 50 cent (Haha) who do you think has body armor? probably the person holding the body armor penetration gun (5.7 BFN)...

And where did you get this information? This particular model of handgun is one of the best selling match grade weapons in the world ... it is quite popular. Kinda blows your theory once you deal with FACTS doesn't it.
Until I hear that the invstigation team has determined that the handgun found at the carwash, which was proven to have fired the rounds found at the scene, is indeed owned by Marvin Harrison I will continue to practice ... innocent until proven guilty.
Peace ... Rog

Newengland and others who know nothing about this gun: It is a FiveSeven pistol. 20 round capacity double stack magazine. 5.7 caliber. It IS BY FAR LESS POWERFUL THAN A AK-47 THAT SHOOTS A 7.62X39 ROUND. The bullet is smaller than a .22 rifle bullet. The difference is that it travels much faster than a .22. There isnt ammo available to the public for this gun that is armor piercing. The ammo for this pistol available to the public is a frangible hollow point that WILL NOT defeat a bullet proof vest. upon impact this bullet would come apart into many pieces and would not penetrate. There is armor piercing rounds available for all types of handguns and rifles but is available only to police and military. This article is as misleading as it gets. This pistol is no more dangerous than any other handgun, the only difference is there is little recoil in comparison to other handguns because of the small bullet weight and allows a more precisely aimed second shot. I have grown up around guns as my dad owns a gun store and I own a bunch of them myself. I am somewhat of an expert on firearms. What a joke this article is.

An expert on weapons but not logic and reality...why do you keep posting that armor piercing ammo is not available to the public? You know that it can be obtained and it is on the street and it has been used in the past. I'm not talking about pre-ban either, I'm talking about new stuff.
Quit selling your expertise, the gun is not the problem, it's shallow thinkers that keep their minds closed for fear of being wrong.

Lawman,
My brother is a cop--used to be on the street, now is an investigator--no, I'm not pretending that makes me an expert on firearms--but he constantly preaches the sermon that a responsibly armed citizenry is the cop's best friend. After 26 years on the force, he's had to modify that by adding "so long as you put the gun away before the cops arrive." Apparently in either a live or long-after-the-fact scenario like the Harrison case, the cops don't know who the real perp is or who escalated the situation. Too bad for the law-abiding types. Maybe you'd prefer Harrison to defend his PoB with an illegally-obtained Saturday Night Special that couldn't be traced back to him. No collateral damage to worry about with that piece of trash, is there?
Did it ever occur to you that Harrison might have purchased the gun because of the light recoil, not the ability with special ammo to pierce Kevlar vests? Your "I AM THE LAW, and I have the right to demand this weapon not be owned by law-abiding citizens" attitude reminds me of the guys who wanted to ban the new Mercedes coupe a few years back because 1 car owner in 1000 might be able to drive it too fast.
The laws of our country should not be about defending the cops. Your lobbyists do that pretty well. Citizens shouldn't need Mommy or Daddy to referee all our squabbles. Our entire psyche as a nation has been structured on individual responsibility with accountability for unintended consequences. Would you rather Harrison called you every time a wanna-be thug ex-con started something in his bar? He'd be a joke to the cops and the public alike and an easy mark to the gangsters when the cops walked away. When all is said and out in the open--if ever--we may all be glad the shooter used the Belgian instead of a cheaper, less-exotic scattergun. Hopefully its positive traits minimized the injuries to bystanders that otherwise were in harm's way when whoever the stupid shooter is discharged this weapon.

Your brother is right, a RESPONSIBLY armed citizenry is the friend of cops. However, as this incident and 1000's, yes 1000's, more show every year, the damage done by those that are not responsible continue to happen with weapons that are capable of much more than needed.
Why would it have to be an illegally purchased .38? Why not a legitimately purchased .40 Glock, Sig Sauer, S & W...? Those all will perform just as well, I know, I have them.
I'm just saying that the marketing of a weapon to do certain things leads to the purchase of the weapon, by the majority, maybe not Harrison, to do those things and in this case it touts armor piercing ability with the right ammo. I'm not coming down on Harrison at all, in fact, I haven't even mentioned his name until this point because quite frankly there's not enough evidence to point to anything.
One last thing, yes, I want the business owner to call us EVERY time and let us do what we get paid for each day. It's the mentality that someone is "a joke" because they call the police all the time that leads to vigilante type acts and people getting hurt because they aren't trained to handle the situation.
