Well following the pattern of the last two years, which team will come to Rutgers ranked #1 with asperations of a national title, then lose to the Scarlet Knights in a close good game? I would say WVU, but I don't think they will be ranked #1 by the time we play them, and furthermore, we aren't playing them at Rutgers. Cinn? South Flordia, again? Louisville, again?
I say Louisville is pretty possible considering when we play them, though I am not sure about their team. Anyother ideas?
The best teams coming to Rutgers this year is Connecticut and Louisville. This year's home schedule is real weak as compared to last year.
Fresno and UConn are both ranked in most preseason polls. Lets not forget that UConn was the co-champ of the Big East last year. To be honest though I doubt UConn will still be ranked by the time they play us.
I also think Louisville has a legitimate shot at being ranked in the top 25 by the end of the year (which is when they play us). At a minimum I expect them to have ~7-8 wins by the time they get to Piscataway. Hunter Cantwell looks like a really good QB, and their coach did a good job bringing in solid JuCo players to help turn around their defense.
We'll have to wait and see though. I just hope Rutgers can win all three of their home games, because they have some tough road games in 2008 (USF, WVU, and Cincy).
I just don't see Lousiville as being that good. I still have a hard time believing how we handed them that game at the end of the year. They have talent, but they sure didn't play with a lot of heart for most of last year. Connecticut, on the other hand isn;t the most talented, particularly on offense. But they have alot of heart, and they play defense and hit. I think they and Fresno State will be the 2 toughest home games. We have to sweep at home, because the road schedule in the league is pretty tough this year.
