Wow, another Duke player returns to sit next to Coach Kay.  This is almost as much of a surprise as when I found out The Clear wasn't really flax seed oil.

Seriously, with the notable exceptions of Tommy Amaker (sp?) and now Johnny Dawkins, do ex-Duke players ever get real jobs, or do they just live off Blue Devil welfare forever?!?

We already know they don't develop skills to play in the NBA, but what about all this bull I've been hearing for years that Mike Krzyzeksikinsyszcy "teaches the game" better than anyone?  If that is so, then how come his players can't do better than to carry his clipboard after they finish their college careers?

Somebody needs to get Duke basketball players some career counseling or job re-training, or something.  Step in for their own good, North Carolina Department of Labor!

Ever heard of Elton Brand? Carlos Boozer? Luol Deng? Grant Hill? Shane Battier? Mike Dunleavy? Corey Maggette?

They're pretty good.

Shut up and complain somewhere else. I freaking hate Duke and have more sense than you.

As a Carolina fan, I have to give them props for at least hiring a big man.  Maybe Wojo wont have to teach the forwards and centers anymore?

dunleavy and maggette arent any good. theyll score a few points here and there cuz they play for terrible teams.
there have been a few successful dook players recently, but dook has been historically known to have flops in the league.

fun fact: only one dook player has ever won an nba championship. (danny ferry, who never saw the court, with the spurs).

ok enough with that... just wanted to say that this thread is funny. doesnt really have any real value, but funny nonetheless. "do they ever get real jobs?" lol

are u crazy? For every person in the NBA from duke there are probably 3 or 4 who never played in the NBA for physical atributes they lack from height to speed to power. My guess is most of them are doing ok for themselves outside of basketball. plus NBA and college basketball are two different games. Look at all these players like your boy Tyler Hansbourogh, 2 time player of the year in college. Shouldnt he be the number one pick in the draft? He wont be and not cuz he is white, its because his game probably wont translate to the NBA. Who was the last 6'9 or 6'10 player to be an great post player in the NBA? Bill Russell comes to mind. Too bad Psycho T did live 40 or 50 years ago. But even then, Bill Russell was leaner and quicker than your boy. Heres some names of good college players recently that havent played very well in the NBA. JJ Redick (I know hes a Dukey), Wayne Simion (Kansas), Hakiem Warrick (Syracus), Luke Jackson (Oregon). And thats just off the top of my head.

here's a new rule. if you're gonna say that certain players aren't any good, you HAVE to look up their stats, otherwise you look like an IDIOT when someone actually does look up their stats.

maggette: 22.1 ppg (#12 ppg player in the league), .458 FG%, .384 3P%, .812 FT%

Dunleavy: 19.1 ppg (#42 ppg player in the league), .476 FG%, .427 3P%, .834 FT%

here are some notables. some people that are considered "good" in the league, and where they are on the PPG list.

Tony Parker: #46

Kevin Garnett: #45

Deron Williams: #44

Pau Gasol: #43

Those guys at the bottom made the playoffs too!  Maggette and Dunleavy play for awful teams and can do whatever they want.

I'd take the current players in the NBA from Duke over the current players in the NBA from UNC any day.  Elton Brand, Corey Maggette, Luol Deng, Mike Dunleavy,  Carlos Boozer, Shane Battier, and Grant Hill are about as good a group as any from one university that are playing in the NBA today.  Heck Chris Duhon isn't that bad of a player as well, especially compared to Brendon Haywood.  What a waste of talent!  The guy could have been a special player if he had the work ethic to be one.  At least Haywood plays in the NBA, unlike benchwarmers Sean May and Brandan Wright.  So maybe instead of saying Coach K doesn't produce NBA talent, we should talk about Roy Williams not doing so.

Or, perhaps, we could just concede that both Duke and North Carolina are two of the absolute elite programs in college basketball and stop bickering over whether Alaa Abdelnaby or Ed Cota was the bigger disappointment...

C'mon
