"Also why do we as fans see a starter is struggling in an inning and but left out to hang. I am thinking of the 6 runs by Suppan against the Cubs in the first inning, the many time we have watched Bush or Parra or Villy struggle in the forth , or fifth innings. I just don't understand Yost logic. "
Think about what you have just said..
The majority of our starters struggle EVERY game to get out of the 5th..as a manager..you have to hope your starters can at least get into the 6th inning..if Yost pulled the starters every time they struggle..our bullpen would explode..
I am NOT defending him..but our pitching staff stinks..
Here's the 2008 pitching staff:
Mota 15 IP 13 Hits 10 BB 1.53 WHIP and hitters are hitting .241 ERA 2.40
Torres 22 IP 21 Hits 8 BB 1.32 WHIP hitters hitting at .263 ERA 2.86
Shouse 10.2 IP 9 Hits 3 BB 1.13 WHIP hitters at .231 ERA 3.38
Riske 17.1 IP 19 Hits 8 BB 1.56 WHIP hitters at .279 with a 5.19 ERA
McClung 11.2 IP 10 hits 9 BB 1.63 WHIP hitters at .238 and a 5.40 ERA
Gagne 14.2 IP 15 hits 10 BB 1.70 WHIP hitters at .263 and a 6.14 ERA(5 Blown saves)
There's your Bullpen..some awful numbers there!
And the Starters(besides Sheets and Gallardo..who is out for the year)
Parra 6 Games started 27.2 IP 38 hits 17 BB 1.99 WHIP and he's getting tagged at a .330 clip with a 5.86 ERA
Bush 4 games started 23.2 IP 27 hits 12 BB 1.65 WHIP and getting hit at a .293 clip with an ERA of 6.46
Villanueva 6 games started 34 IP 41 hits 11 BB 1.53 WHIP and getting hit at a .295 clip with an ERA of 5.56
(Just those 3 starters have started HALF the Brewers games so far..wonder why we're losing yet?)
Suppan 7 game sstarted 39.2 IP 48 hits 14 BB 1.56 WHIP and getting hit at a .304 clip with an ERA of 5.22
Out of 32 games..these four "pitchers" have started 23 of them..with THIS type of starting pitching..do you really expect anything more than a .500 ballclub?
