with an offense like this? Its amazing, its becoming a habit. I remember the last two years when the Astros would get down in a game and you would think this game is over or it would get down to about the 6th spot in the order and ur like ok nothin is gonna happen until the top of the order comes up but now its like man anyone can do damage. Think how much more volatile this lineup will be when Pence and Wigginton and Lee get back to normal and Towles and Bourn make their rookie adjustments.
You look at how good the team is doing and see Oswalt is not pitching well and Wandy has been on the DL for about a month and Chacon doesnt have a decision yet. It looks like the NL Central will return to its proper set up:
Astros and Cardinals battling it out for number 1 and 2, the Cubs in 3rd and then everyone else.

Yea the team is looking great right now. After that 6-12 start were now 18-16 yea were rolling right now particularly the offense and especially in the later innings when were down or have a small lead. The starting pitching has been great and even when the bullpen screws it up the offense has been charging back for a W. 5 wins in a row now and if the Cubs keep struggling and if the Cards have some problems we could be top of the division in no time.

The Cardinals had a setback yesterday, besides losing the game, they found out that Mark Mulder isn't going to be ready anytime soon. I agree our bats are keeping us in this, but if we can just keep our bullpen together, and keep it improving we should look good after the AllStar break.

Well the way the Cards starting pitching is going right now I'd say its a good thing for them that Mulder is taking longer than expected to get back but we'll see soon enough. If we can keep this up until the break then were in really good shape because we are historically a 2nd half team because thats usually when guys like Berkman & Oswalt go lights out. Maybe Lee & Pence will pick up the slack and if Berkman & Tejada can keep their production up we can have one of the best offenses in the league this year. Really in the end it rests on whether or not the pitching can get it done because even though the offense has been awesome lately they cant do it all themselves.

True it really does depend on our pitching. Our offense is solid at the moment, but will see it's ups and downs I'm sure. Our Defense is very suprising at this point considering we don't have Everett. We're actually second in the league in defense.

Pitching Smitchin.....jk, but I think when you have a team that has so many clutch hitters you are gonna win. Will it be enough. I sure hope so. I love the Stros and love the lineup we have. Dont be suprised if the broker a deal for a starter if they continue to win like this into July.

Actually I will be surprised because who will we trade them? We lost a lot of the "junk" that was in our farm system to get Valverde and Tejada. Patton was the only prospect that I was even a little bit concerned about. But now that he's hurt and out for the season with arm issues, looks like it was good that we got rid of him while we could.

He had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder this spring. He's probably out for the season, and will likely never be the same. I do feel for him because he did have potential.

I'll second that on the 7-8-9 spots last year! Ausmus, Everette & pitcher's spot meant don't get too comfy on the bench, we'll be back in the field soon. Now a pitcher can focus on pitching and not having to produce at the plate to have a chance to win. This staff has been hitting well, anyway.
If Bourn and Towles get hot, this team can be scary. I don't miss Woody Williams either.

Yep. The offense gets so good for stretches so far this season that it's more addictive than smack. I hate it when we as fans have to go through withdrawl with a few 2, 3, 4 run games.
That 9-10-11 run streak we had going vs. the Rocks/Pads/Reds during our 6 game win streak a week or two ago was particularly awesome.
And Berkman's 8-AB-hit-streak this week, especially the 4/5 and 5/5 parts of it. And Miggy's back to back 4/5 nights.
It's been a whirlwind love affair.
But keep in mind that if the pitching drops out, we're gonna miss the pitching from a few years ago (sans Dan Miceli, of course).

Hah, apparently not us.
Who woulda thought you'd take it to the red-hot Dodgers on the road with Moehler and Sampson, then be looking for the sweep with last-second FA signee Shawn Chacon? What say we go ahead and get this man his first win of the season, boys? The guy has pitched as well as nearly anyone in baseball.

Dodgers r done, tough luck for Chacon, pitched great again, way to go man. Man, we dumped on the Dodger pen, after the starter had a no-no going through six. We only needed one inning to send the crowd home early. How long has it been since we were four over 500? Feels great!
GO STROS!!
