Spring training I think.  This is the first regular season one I remember this year.

I agree 100 %......since Sexson has become that over-paid .190 hitter seems like his temper has made up for his power and average. This was a true indication of what may be in the future for him. Time to cut your losses Mariners, get rid of the dead weight while you still can.

The video just confirmed my theory that nobody is going to try to bean someone hitting .209.  You probably need to be able to hit the ball for a pitcher to justify hitting you Sexson.

It seems to me, Hawkman, as if you're the only person anywhere arguing that Sexson has been anything but terrible since coming to Seattle. I certainly didn't see anyone jump on your bandwagon when I argued this point with you before, but I had plenty jump on mine.

The vast majority of Mariners fans will tell you that Sexson deserves every boo he's been getting, and frankly, he should be happy he's playing at all after the ridiculous numbers he has been consistantly putting up. I mean really, when you're making 15 million a year, I don't think it's too much to ask that you bat .250 or maybe even hit more often than you strike out. Sexson has shown that he is clearly incapable of doing either. He's just another Jason Giambi...overpaid, far past his prime, and not long for the majors (hopefully).

You can argue until you're blue in the face that Sexson retains some value, but he is proving you wrong every time he steps to the plate. It's time for the Mariner's to cut their losses... Sexson is a waste of space and money.

The Rangers felt bad for him and wanted to give him a glimpse of first base. The only time sexton has been on first this season is to touch the bag on D. Also I would like to hear from Seattle fans on the bar that has a sexton happy hour. They have drinks the same price as his average. This is the best idea i have heard of in sports, i wish more bars would do that. Seattle fans whats this bar like and how does it feel to walk into a bar with 5 bucks and get drunk.

But many years ago they did the same thing with Dave Valle and his average. But obviously today the deal is much sweeter.

Sexson is a waste of space and money.

Along with about 70% of the team right now.  It has been a year and a quarter that he's been putting up horrible numbers.  Before that he gave what the the team originally signed him for.

BTW, maybe you should jump back over and read some of the posts again.  There are plenty of people arguing that you don't boo hometown players who are giving the effort.  It has no value.  Well, maybe it makes the booing fan feel good.  Maybe it raises their own pathetic self-esteem.  I have no idea why people would be a home town player who isn't a jerk and is trying, but some people just get their rocks off that way I suppose.

"HTownSmitty has a point. It does look that way. Gabbard missed his spot, but Sexson did also over-react. Thing is Sexson closed his eyes after seeing a fastball riding high. He had no way to tell how close it would come, so naturally he figured the ball was closer to his head than actually was. Fight was well earned. Sexson will be suspended and Gabbard got bit by Karma for his bad intentions."

--------

How do we know what intentions Gabbard had? The ball was over the plate, and we judge him for bad intentions because the Mariners played bean ball with Texas and maybe, just maybe, Jason let the fastball slip up in the zone a bit?

Sexson was looking for a fight right off the bat. The ball could be riding high, but it wasn't coming directly at him. There was absolutely no need to flinch. By the way he's hitting, I'm surprised he didn't swing at the stupid thing. He's a MLB hitter. He should know the trajectory of the pitches by now.

Even if they did hit him, the problem isn't with Gabbard, as he's protecting 2 of his players. Sexson should have pulled Hernandez aside and smacked him around a bit because the hitters are the ones that will take the blows for his actions since he's in the DH league and won't take a few pitches of his own at the plate. The team is a mess, and one's frustrations can become the whole team's frustrations in an instant.

You can't compare Richie Sexson to David Ortiz and Ryan Howard. Come on, you're usually smarter than this.

First of all Ortiz and Howard, have actually helped their respective teams to the playoffs. Besides allegedly being a "good guy", tell me what has Sexson done?

Who cares if he is the fastest Mariner to hit 100 HRs, he still hits for low AVG and has never been clutch like David Ortiz. Ortiz has even helped his team win a couple rings. Please don't mention those two in the same sentence, it's insulting for those Red Sox fans.
