 Put your foot down, Bud!!

6 games, period. There shouldn't be any appeals. If they say it's unfair, oh well. They should think of that next time they feel like starting a fight. The league needs to stand firm and keep these cry babies from getting time off as if they are the victims.

Sexson should have time added for his ill intent, not to mention the fact that he used his helmet as a weapon.

But leave it to the system associated with Bud Selig to mess it all up and reduce his suspension. What a joke.

With the way Sexon has been playing this year Seattle should be the one saying that 5 games isn't enough. The pitch wasn't anywhere near his head, and then he throws his helmet - at least Gabbard didn't run about. Sexon is an ass and he should be ashamed of his immature actions. I agree with you Slick 1,000%.

I agree, the suspension was 6 games so thats what he should serve, appeal denied! He thought the ball was at his head when it was actually closer to the plate. No wonder he's hitting .202, he can't see the ball!

I have Been a Mariner Fan for a Long Time, that being said! Sexson has not, nor will ever be worth his Millions a year. Sexson throwing his helmet at the apposing pitcher, was atleast one of his few hits this year that might have been worth it for him... He also did the team a huge favor by getting suspended for 5 games.  now maybe they will get a win.

Thanks Richie "Rich" Sexson for ?

Bud Selig is a Joke!

Forget reducing the suspension.

Bob Watson should have looked the tape one last time before the conference call and thanked Richie Sexson for appealing the decision.  Then Watson could have handed out a more appropriate suspension by doubling it to 12 games!

The fact is that even though the ball was pretty high on a tall player in Sexson, it was straight over the plate and Sexson was trying to dive into it like he expected one low and slightly away.  It's his own damn fault he almost got plunked-- he leaned into one!  The Mariners should have sent a secret email to Bob Watson asking him to up the suspension so they don't have to put Sexson's sorry bat into the lineup a little while longer.
If I had a set of numbers like Sexson has right now (.202 BA, .297 OBP, and a .420 Slg),  I'd be embarassed to be collecting a check and would slink into the background for a week or two until I got my swing in order.

Don't get me wrong. I follow most professional sports and of course baseball is one of them.  That being said, it's a joke compared to all the other sports.   What other sports allows the stupidest things that exist to happen?

1) a coach is allowed to go on the field of play to argue.  For this at most he gets an ejection for that game,,,, unless he touches the ump, never more.  What other sport can you do that in? that's right ,, none.

2)  You get suspended, but while you appeal you get to play?  In other sports an appeal will almost always take place right away.. nobody plays a week after getting suspended.

3)  So, a guy charges the mound and the league allows the benches to empty? First guy off gets 10 games in hockey.. doesn't happen in football.. and if it happens in basketball people get suspended.. not baseball..

You have an umpire 3 feet away from a bang bang play at 2nd base but the manager can come out and argue that seeing it from the dugout?

For the record, sexson should have gotten 20 games...  the ball wasn't anywhere near him... he almost hit a guy in the face with a helmet, and attempted to punch him in the face hitting him in the head instead with his fists... 6 games or less then 4 percent of a season is a joke... don't you think?

What I don't understand is if he knew he was going to throw his helmet out there why didn't he just take his bat....oh wait I just rechecked his BA I think gabbard would have preferred to have seen the bat come out.  But seriously 5 games is it????  Isn't that what gets hand out when there is the "helmet involved".  I think Tom Grieve summed it up best on the Rangers station when he said Sexson was a 6'7" 240 lb wuss who couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.  I think the Bud Selig should have taken a hard stance on this one to set an example and send out a message loud and clear that it will not be tolerated for your to charge the mound with a weapon.  I think about 25 games would be about then again I do like the Rangers so maybe they shouldn't suspend him at all.....

Your absolutley right! They are more concerned to see if the manager has his game shirt on under the practice shirts they now have and SELL in the stores.
