Rock, if he gets 3 or 4 more wins by mid june, say 9 and 2 with a 3.00 ERA than I think he should make it.  Plus, Japanese market would go crazy

AL all star starter perhaps? That would be nice, but too far down the road for me to see. Story so far is Cliff Lee, so we'll see if he keeps it up. Be pretty wild to see Wang start and give way to Matsuzaka, or vice versca, though...

Right now that honor would go to Cliff Lee.  6-0 in six starts, 39-2 K/BB ratio and .86 era.   The guy has been untouchable this year.   Still a long way to go though but here's hoping that he can keep it up!

Somehow, I think people cared about the Braves, and their fans, for this one 14 year stretch? Know the one I'm talking about? And people care about the Braves. Just because you don't care about any team but the Sox or Yanks doesn't mean others share that viewpoint.

Not  that I should ever support RSN peacock struttin, but your argument that "people cared about Braves and their fans for this one 14 year stretch" might be stronger if the Braves didnt have such a devil of a time selling out the first round home games for about 10  of those 14 years.

Nobody cared, not the Brave fans or anybody else.

You have me convinced...Dice-K > > > > Kei Igawa !!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

actually a LOT of pitchers are > > > > kei igawa -- not just Daisuke Matsuzaka. spot starter + long relief pitcher Julian Tavarez immediately comes to mind -- and so does kyle snyder, David Pauley,  a rehabbing Bartolo Colon, an injured Curt Schilling, even Eric Gagne (ok probably not that last one), etc...

"Really?  With the exception of JD Drew, name a player they flot out just over paid to bring in.....Manny was 8 years ago, different ownership, different GM.  I'd pick my choices carefully if I were you."

lol, after this entire thread, you forgot Dice-K.

So we overpaid a guy who's doing what we want him to do in winning games?

How did Igawa turn out? Pavano? Farnsworth? Your team is basically paying/paid these guys to lose games

Wow this almost seems like a thread that should be on the Red Sox board

if that was the case, there'd be very few threads on the MLB general board, lol

you know, since only Red Sox fans care about that.

humm, so far there's more opposing fans than Sox fans on it.. and I see a .................is that a Brave fan?

Kyle Farnsworth is actually turning into a decent 7th inning guy so you might just want to reconsider you statement somewhat Santanasback.  As for Carl Pavano in oder to pay somebody to loss games said person must actually PLAY IN THE GAMES so I don't see how your statement holds up with him either, we are PAYING HIM TO DO NOTHING now I don't know if that is better than paying him to lose games or not but there is a difference none the less.

Speaking about paying people I was considering some renovations at my home and I was wondering if Papelbon might be available I was quite impressed by how he "renovated" the dugout after his blown save the other day, I didn't think the gatorade looked good there either Paps, nice job.

So a few good games makes up for the overall mediocrity of his career? LOL good one

He's not contributing in a positive way, and for all that money doing nothing is just as bad

Yeah......don't quit your day job
