Who is your favorite announcer, or do you prefer a tandem or trio? Past or present?
I don't think I have a favorite, but I can't stand Phil Simms, or Tony Kornheiser (love him on PTI though).
Your thoughts?

Most announcers today are so bad I jsut tune them out. But back in the day even though he had an annoying voice Howard Cossell hands down. Before Simon Crowell there was Howard Cossell. If a player sucked he said it, not like ex-players saying everybody was great or going through a ahrd time. I rememebr 5th grade watching the Bears and Lions on MNF and the bears kicker missed a chip shot in a 48-17 blowout loss, Howie said he knew kids on the street who could kick better. The late Bill Walsh announced for only a few years but he gave real good evaluations/breakdowns of situations, maybe to wordy for tv but the man was a genius.

My favorite was actually a college football announcer, Keith Jackson "Whoa Nellie". I agree with Steve Deberg about Howard Cossell, he could be a real dink, and had an ego as big as my prostate. The only time I Iiked watching Cossell was when he interviewed Muhammed Ali. Ali used to make him look stupid. Right now, I would have to say Al Michaels and John Madden. I know alot of people don't like Madden, but he puts a different spin on the game, and sometimes can even be funny. I agree, he may not quite be up to today's game, but I like him anyway. I remember him and Pat Summeral for years, who was also a favorite of mine. Probably all time, Richards and Summeral, presently Al Michaels and Madden.

I know I'm driving you crazy, but I remeber another classic sports announcer, Ray Scott, who did the Packer's games. I was a Packer's fan , as a kid, before I became a Chief's fan, and Ray Scott is an icon in Green Bay. Ok, I promise I'm done now. Us old people who just got their first AARP card (turned 50) like nostalgia.

Frank, Al and Dan was a pretty good trio for Monday Night Football. They also had one of the best Monday night signers to kick off the show in Hank JR.

I don't know about he rest of you, but I can't stand the present Monday Night Football announcers. Kornhieser drives me over the edge with his stupid comments and knows nothing about football, Tirico is Ok, but boring and Joe Thiesman thinks he's an expert on everything involved with football and is too opinonated. (Although he is the only one of the 3 that does actually know something about football).

I agree the current Monday Night crew is terrible. I expect a change soon.
