i'm not a yankee fan.  In fact, I am a die-hard Yankee-hater.  But seriously, did the Yankees not start out like this the previous 2 seasons only to make the playoffs?

David Wells is not the answer.  He has been decent at best ever since he played for San Diego.  He is old and overweight.  His health is big concern as well.  I do not see the Yankees bringing him in to start.  Maybe as a relief pitcher, but it sounds like he will not pitch unless he is a starter.  So cross him off.

Joba Chamberlain.  He is a great pitcher.  I do not like the idea of them putting him in the rotation just yet.  I think that he could use another season pitching in relief.  However, the Yankees may not have a choice.  He might give that rotation that little extra juice that they need.

Or they could wait and see what happens.  Some players get better as the weather gets warmer.

I agree the Yankees have been here before but they cannot continue to skate by on bad pitching in hopes the bat bail them out.  It's time to make some move and shore up the line up.  Boomer, Kevin Brown and Carl Pavano aside of course.

I don't think it's time to panic just yet. Like Rocket said.... they have started out like this before. Getting A-rod back will be a huge help. They need to find the happy balance of consistent pitching and timely hitting. It seems like when the pitcher goes to crap... the bats go cold as well. They will get there.... the temp is warming up and the Yankees will come around.... like they usually do.

Here's the deal with A-Rod coming back this team is a wild card team for the playoffs.  For the last few it seems that people doubt the Yankees after starts like this.  The problem is when they get to the playoffs.  They don't have the big time pitching other clubs out there do i.e. most notably Josh Beckett (who has become one of the most prolific post season pitchers of all time in his young career) and, as history has shown, A-Rod is choke-rod in the playoffs.  Another thing I don;t like about this team is the age and their youth isn't coming around as fast as they would like.  Joba has been good in middle relief but, it is a big jump from middle relief to starting the ball game, I think we all remember the great bug incident of 07.  So in my OPINION the Yanks make the playoffs in the wild card and lose in the first round to the Indians....again.

Bring on the BOOMER! I love Wells, even though he has proven to be an ass most of his career, I still love the way he plays baseball. He lets people know what he's thinking and talks when he isn't suppose to, thats why New York loved him. He use to be a great big game pitcher, and I'm positive he still has some in him. In the photo, he does indeed look better than what we saw of him in the past years. Just remember guys, we're looking for a5th starter or a 4th, and boomer is certainly capable of doing just that. He has good control (look at his career stats if you disagree) and he can last late into ball games. Overall, I just want to say it again, but Bring on the Boomer.

I, for the most part, agree. While I don't see Wells as anything more than a 1 year help, I do think we could use him. He's at least an upgrade over Igawa and we could use an innings-eater for sure.

He'd be okay in my book for a time, unless we call up Steven White.
