So, since when did Travis Kvapil race for Roush (as stated by Chris Myers)?

Nice of Fox to constantly interrupt racing with crap. I'm not talking commercials, but all the other stuff they show besides RACING. More missed lead changes, scrapes, etc. because they want to continually self-promote and show other nonsense.

And, they showed a tire and how a wall piece was wedged in between the wheel and the tire, but it looked like they were looking at the inside of the tire, not the outside. Am I mistaken?

One more reason not to like the new car: They're nearly indestructible. Smoke gets plowed into and drives nearly the whole backstretch with Sadler on his hood and yet he's still able to run competitively for the next 265 laps? I'm just glad he didn't ever make it back on the lead lap.

Same thing with Busch. He slams his car into the walls a half-dozen times, complains about handling, completely negates the usefulness of the right rear fender and yet he wins pulling away from an equally strong (and less damaged) field.

I guess the race was exciting...but no highlights worthwhile to share with anyone...

Personnelly, I like the indestruable car. It means drivers can lean on each other like they did in the past.  What Kyle did bouncing off the wall and winning is what a lot of past driver did, Hang it out and let it bounce off the wall to straighten it out.  If the car was a destruable as you appear to want there would only have been about 10 cars running at the end of the race.

ToTo - I have thought that for quite some time now. It's not just FOX but all of the coverage today. They feel the need, for whatever reason, to show things like that rather then what we tuned in for, the race!

My conclusion is that with all the "new" fans that don't have a clue they feel they must show them this. I guess I can see what they're trying to do but don't do it during green flag racing...bluejay

Bluejay/ToTo

you also have to keep in mind that there aren't as near as many gear heads in the world either.  A lot of the new fans don't even know how to change the oil in their own car.  So they are trying to inform these fans of what they are talking about each week.  But it does seem like with each passing year we lose seeing another 5% of the race.

This is the best race car we have had in a long time.  One little dent in the fender doesn't ruin your drivers chance at a win.  This is the way it's supposed to be.

I do have to agree about the coverage.  While Larry MAc and DW were babbling about the significance of Jr paint scheme, I heard biffle say it's not going to last much longer and all the while, DW had to go on and on about his glory days in the Mountain Dew car.   I figured, OK, they will come back to it.  It wasn't until several laps later and when he was headed into the pits that they even mentioned hearing it on the radio.

I think the actual coverage FOx does is better than ESPN but I have had my fill of Jaws and his slant towards all things MW and Toyo.

FNS, I don't think Mikey was mentioned more the twice last night.  Most of the comments were focused on the leaders, Kyle Bush, Dale Junior and Jeff and JJ.  Towards the last they mentioned Blaney, Kvapil, and Regan.  So I don't know where you get off on the MW thing.  As for Toyota who was winning the race and look at last year compared to this year.

Gee, Mikey, Toyota has exactly one solid team in JGR.  Somehow, I have a feeling that JGR could make Yugos work in cup also.  That is the only good team that Toyota has.  If Gibbs stayed with GM, I  doubt that most of the Toyotas would be as sucessful at making races as they are this year.  None of the other teams are exactly competitive.

As for Jrs Retro colors, the second I saw that car posted on JAyski, I knew that DW would drool over it the whole race.  Its one of the main reasons I didn't even bother to watch the race.  As much of a Jr fan that I am, I can't stand to hear DW moan about the olden days for 4 hours forgetting that t heres an actual race going on.

I can't wait until Fox goes off the air.

Easy big fella.  I like MW.  My comment is toward the entire season of bias during the races and the trackside show o Friday nights.   BTW, during trackside he wears a shirt with Toyo on it.

And then we have the hitting the gas incident where DW said "they are stuck".  Not much was said after they played the in car.

Superbear, If PepsiCo really wanted to go retro on the 88 they would put Gatoride on the car.  Then DW would really go crazy.  Even though he won 2 of his championships with MD, he was the one to break the "Green" superstition with the Gatoride car.

I just have to say this. When Fox first got Nascar coverage I thought DW was great. I don't know what's happened in the last 7 years, but at this point the only word I can think of for DW is pathetic. When Wild Thing and Jr. wrecked at Richmond I honestly thought DW was gonna start crying, is there any other word to describe his reaction than pathetic? Also, I said this last year, and I'll say it again this year, DW and Larry Mac are the biggest cheerleaders Toyota could ever ask for, it's not just a coincidence that they both own truck teams that just so happen to be Toyota's, if this isn't a conflict of interest I don't know what is. In my opinion I think Fox has to step in and tell them both to cool it a little bit. But wait, doesn't Toyota buy a lot of commercial time on Fox? Oh forget it, the top of my head is about to fly off !!!!!!

Mikey, here is the deal... Mountain Dew is a straight up affilitae w/ AMP. Yes Gatorade is distribuated by PepsiCo too, but you see why they chose Mountain Dew (Daytona 500 & all of the other wins).

The intial rumors was that Jr was going to drive a Mountain Dew car but they upped it up by going w/ AMP. Gatorade is doing fine w/ Tiger and Jordan. They do not need to get more spokesmen for it. I have been drinking Gatorade forever since it was created at the University of Florida. GO Gators.

I am glad to see the cars take a good hit to the wall and keep rolling.

Gator, I understand why the Dew car but It would be quite an ordel with DW if it was the 88 Gatorade car.  After all the Gatorade car was the 88.

Mikey,

Gatorade is not an official sponsor of the 88, Mountain Dew is.  Hence the Mountain Dew retro colors.  JJ is the spokesperson in Cup for gatorade.  I don't know how Mears isn't a sposnor of any Pepsi product.  Maybe Pepsi wants a driver who can actually drive a race car.
